My husband and I just returned from a lovely weekend in Culpepper where we were fortunate to be able to stay at Fountain Hall. The proprietors, Kathi and Steve, went above and beyond themselves to make our time there both memorable and enjoyable. The house itself is comfortable, well-appointed (we lacked for nothing!), and convenient to downtown Culpepper. (Note that they don't serve breakfast, but the inn has a well-appointed dining room with plates, saucers, coffee, etc.) We didn’t have a car and didn’t need one. Kathi even volunteered to pick us up at the Amtrak station, which is a mere six blocks from the inn, and Steve drove us back there at the end of our visit. I cannot say enough good things about either the house or its owners.
My husband and I were looking for a weekend get away. We were flexible on the location as long as it wasn't too far from our home. We looked at several bed and breakfasts before deciding to stay at Fountain Hall. We are very happy we chose Fountain Hall. This B& B has lots of historic charm! It's also located in downtown Culpeper, which is a town filled with quaint shops and historic charm. Our room had antique furniture and the bathroom was wonderful. We stayed in a room with a jetted tub and Victorian charm, including the toilet. The only drawback is the wall paper in the bathroom has an 80's feel, but it didn't detract too much from the bathroom's charm. This B & B also served one of the best breakfasts we've encountered. The owner is extremely friendly and accommodating. We will return!
I stayed in the Chelf Room and loved everything. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, the Mitsubishi Split Unit for heating or cooling could not even be heard, and if you want fresh air, the window opens, the screen door to the porch lets in air, and the large window above the hot tub does too. No mustiness at all in the hallways or sitting areas outside the room.--or anywhere. The inn overall is impeccable, clean, and is beautiful in its decor. The owners are extremely helpful and responsive. Plenty of self help kitchen areas with microwaves and cups; in room fridge and coffee maker.Can't wait to go back!
Culpeper is a surprisingly enjoyable weekend destination and the Fountain Hall B&B is the perfect accommodation! I am flying solo this weekend and needed a little break from a hectic few months. I chose the Chelf Room - located on the second floor with a private balcony and jet tub. No TV, love that!, gave me an opportunity to curl up with a good book. The location to downtown is a short walk full of quaint local food and shopping - but I actually haven't wanted to leave the room! It is so relaxing and quiet and enjoyed the best night's sleep I have had in a long time. The train goes by a few times a day and I love the nostalgia that comes with this from growing up in southern Virginia. I highly recommend a stay at Fountain Hall - the owners are charming and the breakfast was delicious!
Never met the innkeepers due to Covid and our late arrival (and no breakfast served). We enjoyed the home atmosphere, the convenient location to town, and the quaint decor. Much literature to read and brochures in lobby to browse.||||Gold star rating for QUIET - and modern - wall mounted air conditioning units that operate by remote control. ||||Beds are high up, bathroom small though sufficient; toiletries (not made in USA) and towels below average, but would stay here again.
If you want to be robbed stay here or if you want to stay in a hostile this is for you. Place was not as advertised and is not a bed in breakfast. Beware.
Our first time staying here, and it likely will not be our last. The proprietors were friendly, and left great directions for self check-in. We enjoyed a comfortable room on the second floor that was very clean and enjoyable. We liked being within walking distance of great shops and dining in town. There is some road noise from town traffic and a faint rumble of a passing train, but nothing that kept us from a good night's sleep. Overall, this was the perfect place to stay for our weekend in Culpepper for the air show!
Had lots of fun on our romantic getaway here. We played games in the beautiful living room, walked to town for dinner, and had a great time. The bathroom was a little tiny however. I also didn't get the email with the door code, which made arrival and check-in a little confusing.
Itâs a wonderful place, preserved nature and a great location for kids to play. Itâs perfect to get some exercise, there are also two different locations for parking.
