You won’t be disappointed when you get to the waterfall and the cave. Love this place and definitely going and exploring around more.
Such a wonderful hike. Its just over 4 miles from the trail head to the dam and just over 8.5 round trip. The hike in is fairly easy. The hike out is a little harder but not difficult. Take plenty of water, take your time and enjoy yourself There seems to be confusion about the signs stating there is no access to "The Waterfall". This is not entirely accurate. Fossil Creek Dam is a little water fall, but it isn't "The Waterfall" that is several miles downstream. You could technically take the Flume trail from the end of the Fossil Creek Trail and then meet up with "the Waterfall", but that would make this over a 20 mile loop hike.
Everything was perfect if you looking for a long walk and regarding view onces you get to the watter , but the parking lots i now know theres more in the begining , but this last week i ( in the grey car ) paid my permit, and thought was good to park front of this white truck, (looks like they where using 2 spots) my car its small so , no big deal, then someone "smarter" lockit from the back and (White truck get out the parking lot crashing mine 😅 , . Like i said Now i Know theres more parking lots . 🤔 take lots of watter with you and snacks
Very difficult hike for elderly do not recommend children or pets either. Beautiful views would absolutely recommend for experienced hikers. Bring swimwear for the river and go during summer because the water is cold. Bring lots to drink it is a long trail and lookout for snakes.
Beautiful scenery, refreshing water to dip and jump in, and a sweet 4.5 mile hike down and up. 25k+ steps for the day. Bring plenty of water, good hiking boots, sun screen, some bug spray, and you should be good to go. Arrive early so you can insure a close up parking space and less crowds down below. Must have a pass after May 1st, 2019.
Good hike. The trail runs downhill for 90% of this way in so save some energy for the trip back. Look out for the hanging trail markers and they can be tough to spot at times.
Is a 4 mile hike, nice view, the creek is awesome with clear water, it has a cave
Fun and beautiful. The hike was long enough to keep away crouds but not too hard for the whole family. (tweens & teens) The cave and cliff jumping was awesome!
