Fortland was an amazing experience and the staff were super nice and helpful. The boat ride to the island was enjoyable. The boat captain and mate were so friendly The yurt was beautiful and very comfortable. So cool walking through sections of the fort to get to our yurt. Everything was very clean and earth friendly. We had a tour of the fort and it’s amazing! We enjoyed every minute of our stay and plan on returning with even more friends!
Fortland was the perfect getaway for my husband, toddler, newborn, and me. From sea glass beaches to the historic fort to evening campfires---every bit of our stay was sensory rich. We found our yurt and the island offered as much privacy or community as we wanted. And there was just the right amount of comfort and style amidst a uniquely beautiful setting. Fortland was the perfect kickoff to our Maine summer.
This was a great staycation, it’s a short boat ride but it feels like you are in a magical faraway place. One of the best parts was watching the sunset followed by smores by the fire. The island has a choose your own adventure vibe. You can spend the entire trip doing your own exploring!

This place really is magical! We loved watching the beautiful sunrise and sunset, searching for beach glass, swimming, and making smores. All the other guests and hosts were so kind. We will definitely be back!
Amazing little private island with the best glamping facilities and super friendly staff members. The story of the underground fort complex is fascinating. Highly recommend!
We loved every bit of our stay at Fortland! Highlights were the incredible views, the tour of the forts, and the friendly, helpful staff. Everything we needed to know to get ready for our stay was communicated clearly before the trip. The boat rides to and from House Island were smooth and scenic. On the island, we enjoyed exploring beaches, relaxing in the Adirondack chairs on our tent's deck, and learning about the history of the island and its forts. I would highly recommend Fortland for couples, families (including with kids), groups of friends - anyone who loves beautiful views and a comfortable immersion in nature.
