Fort William Henry Hotel & Conference Center - Hotel in Lake George - 48 Canada St, USA

This was my first stay in the Lake George area, and I was with a group of friends who had stayed here before. I booked in the Premium section because I was told that was the only upgraded section. When we arrived (which was only a few weeks later), I did discover the "Deluxe" (motel) section had been upgraded as well. I did see see the Deluxe rooms, and they were nice, but I'm glad I booked in the Premium wing. It was quieter, and I liked having the interior hallway. There were some nice gathering areas which we enjoyed with our large group on our first night there. The restaurant hostesses, the bartenders and our waitress for breakfast on our last morning there were all great, helpful and very personable. The room was pretty quiet, and aside from not really being able to get the heat to where we wanted it, we have no complaints (other than the mattress being too hard, which is really just a personal preference matter, I believe). I do have to say when we first got to our room, there was a dirty towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. Also, despite leaving a "Maid Service Please" sign on our door our first morning (we left for the day), we came back to our bed being unmade and the bathroom not cleaned. There were fresh (I think?) towels, and that's about it. We had even left a tip for housekeeping that was not taken. We hadn't received anything written or told anything that indicated that we would not receive maid service, so that was disappointing. Otherwise, the location is awesome, of course, and the views of the lake were beautiful. The service was great in the bar area and when we had breakfast the last morning.

We stayed at this property as a part of ski destination experience. It is a 40 min drive to Gore Mountain and it provided better pricing and accommodations than a typical hotel around Gore Mountain. My primary criteria for selecting this hotel was a Tesla Destination Charger as we took our EV there. It was super convenient, there are two Tesla chargers at the hotel parking lot, both were working, both were free, and both provided 48amp charging experience, meaning that the vehicle was fully charged overnight. The hotel is very pleasant, the check-in experience was courteous, and we were upgraded for free to a lake view room, and view was wonderful. The rooms are renovated, clean, provide a fridge and a microwave, comfortable beds and bedding, and large, clean bathrooms and showers. The hotel is very centrally located, about 300 feet from the lake (right across the road). There is a heated pool, and a hot tub, and a sauna, all working, though the sauna was a bit beat up and never got truly hot. There is no gym. There is no free breakfast, though the hotel does provide nice facilities for breakfast and dinner, and there is a bar. The breakfast was ok for the money, but nothing to write home about, convenient if you don't want to go out. There are plenty of places to eat within half a mile, so even a walk is very doable. Overall, this is a pleasant place to stay, good service and nicely maintained facilities for the money.

This is a beautiful hotel with the most accommodating staff I have ever dealt with! The staff is wonderful, they cater to your every need, the food is awesome and the ambiance is great! I run a quilt retreat at this facility and all 46 ladies have nothing but rave reviews ! The hotel has beautiful views of Lake George ! I highly recommend this hotel for any of your travel needs in upstate NY! There is so much to do all year round! They also have a newly renovated Carriage House that overlooks Lake George which is a perfect venue for a wedding or any other important event

What a wonderful time we had here this past weekend! From the front desk to the bar and restaurant staff and everyone in between were so friendly and professional. Excellent breakfast and dinner options with great drinks as well. We had a 4th. floor lakeview room and what a spectacular view!! We both highly recommend and will be back again next year.

Be careful when your making your online reservation that you are getting a room in the main building. The small motel type motel on the end isn't great and that's what you get unless you pay extra for the main building. That's unclear on the website. The rooms in the main building are beautiful and well maintained. But your going to over pay for them. It's centrally located, with a fantastic view of the lake and within walking distance to the Winter Realm.

The owner really cares about the needs of your stay. She is very personable and we cannot wait to return. I cannot wait to schedule our next trip along with some of the tours. We went for New Years Eve and had a great time. Our stay was in the main building,

Clean hotel, staff very friendly, food in restaurants excellent and reasonably priced, check in quick and easy. Parking easy and close and proximity to the main street and activities is very good. View of the lake is the best of any hotel in Lake George.

I Had a front desk worker walk in on me while I was in my room. She did not knock. She then told me I should not be there because the room should be vacant. I then asked for a manager and was told there was not a manger on duty. She did not apologize for walking in. I then received a call from a manager, and she told me the front desk agent was not at fault for the most part. The food and beverage managers where amazing. The fire attendant was amazing. My wife and I received a complimentary meal for my inconvenience. No apologies from the front desk agent.
