While there isn't really anything left from the 1691 fort, there is a lot of cool stuff to see here if you're in the area. As a historian, I'd recommend doing a little research before visiting the site because you're going to get a lot more out of it. The fort itself was of great importance until it passed into American hands and was abandoned. Still, a great place for a walk and to do some learning.
We attended the archaeological open house for the second year this year, and were very happy to return. It's a nice peek into the area's history, and seeing the students so excited about their work is infectious. They definitely welcome people of all ages, and everyone seems very happy to be able to share their passion with others.
If you want to see the local erratic (next step up larger stone than a boulder and/or a rock so large it's out of it's place), then this is the place for you. Also a significant historical marker. Or if you don't like any of those, it's just a really big rock.
There's a marker and a large boulder with a couple benches to sit down on the site of the old Fort.Just a few yards across the street is the burial site of a French priest.About a month ago there were canoe rides and people dressed up in frontier clothing with booths along the St Joseph River.
Just an interesting stop along the river.
It was neat, but it's a homeless area. A lot of little camp sites in the woods.
This is a large rock that sits on ground that has been claimed in turn by more nations than you might guess. Geologically, it is a large granite glacial erratic. A nice change of pace from the omnipresent local limestone, and an interesting spot tucked into a quiet spot near the river. Don’t miss it if you go by on the nearby bike route.
I guess I believed everything as a lil kid but whow knows this one probably more true than the other 2 but my brother in law told me his family had a farm with crops or something and it was in the way and they dragged it there with horses an That's originally that's how bond st got there the road itself hope he sees this someday an calls me dumb or clarifies
Outstanding holiday display... This was a great way to end the season and start Epiphany, Three Kings Day. We're looking forward to visiting these gardens later this year (to see the actual gardens).
Beautiful park that has compacted trails. 3 trails to choose from. We took the longest route which was 2.3 miles. They all loop. It was beautiful day to get out and walk.
This was our first time ordering from âPizza Transitâ. I am so glad we did! We had a craving for breakfast pizza, and it so happens that is what Januaryâs Pizza of the Month is. The pizza and breadsticks were delicious! A perfect balance of fla
We were at Notre Dame last weekend and saw that we were very close to the Michigan state line, so we decided that we had to go into Michigan. Right as we crossed the state line, I said we should just eat dinner here in Michigan, and I said I wish we
Spent four days in Niles near my Dad for Christmas. Rooms were comfortable, and clean. Spacious and nice. Staff was very nice and polite. Kids loved the breakfast. Lots to choose from.
An A Class Facility for your No Planning involved Party. BBQ benches and pavilions up by the parking lot. Fishing successfully here is not for novice anglers.
Went during football game and it was a pretty popping scene! Food took a little longer than expected (we did have a big party and three orders of chicken tenders) but the waitress was great at her job! Food was delicious and wish we tried more on the
