The beach was a little bit murky, but the sandbar was amazing if you have little kids! The waves were small and didn’t go very deep. There also wasn’t any bathrooms but access to the beach is incredibly easy with dozens of parking lots with rates as low as $5 per hour. I would recommend coming here during the evening and watching an incredible sunset on the water.
Although destroyed by hurricane Ian and still has a long way to go, we had a wonderful time here for Thanksgiving. The beaches are so quiet, the shells you find are absolutely extraordinary. If you're looking for a place to go for shell hunting, relaxing in the sand with minimal human interaction and enjoy the peace of nature, I highly recommend staying in the area.
Only on account of the post-hurricane status am I giving it four stars. The surrounding beauty makes up for what it's lacking in being built back up. I can't even imagine how much effort must go into rebuilding after such a devastating storm. Undoubtedly, the gorgeous beaches and sunsets will draw continue to draw people here, like it did for our us.
Tourists think the beach is still a disaster. My parents live on the beach. We see tremendous improvements. We walk the beach and support the restaurants to help them with recovery.
Remnants of the pier still stand as a reminder of what was. The clock represents the present....enjoy every moment for tomorrow it may change. And the Poinsettia tree to me is hope for the future. #Godblessfortmyers
If you're looking for a place to find some peace for yourself, I would recommend Fort Myers Beach. Sundown is the best time to go.
Compared to beaches in Maryland, this beach is nice. White soft sand. Devastation still remains but the water is good. Water temp 91degrees. We went on a Thursday late afternoon. Plenty of parking. Good music coming from nearby restaurant.
