Poor value for the money, plus dangerous bath situation. |The old-timey atmosphere is fine, and as expected. However, for $300-plus per night, one should be able to expect a bathing experience that isn't downright dangerous--the only choice is a high, claw foot tub with NO grab bar! Given the fully modern updates in kitchen, heating system, etc., there's no excuse for not having safety updates in the bathroom. (The almost non-existent water pressure in the bath adds to the poor value for the price as well.) Requiring a $150 "cleaning fee" as part of the original booking--before we'd even arrived!--and then requiring we take out the garbage and "please help by stripping the beds" as we leave is pretty off-putting. Great location...bad deal.
We and our grandchildren had a wonderful two days in the Doctor's House. The house retains its historic charm and was very comfortable. The beds and pillows were good, and there were plenty of towels. The kitchen was minimally stocked so if you plan to do a lot of cooking bring your own seasonings and cookware. The location was great - walking distance from Fort Casey and the beach below the gun emplacements. We would definitely stay again!
Unit 5 |Pros: Roomy, quiet, homey, trail access. Rarely used our car. Nice staff. Heavenly setting. Good value. As promised, Internet was for all purposes non-existent. We brought a small TV to watch DVD's a few nights. Felt very homey. Fun to stay in a historical place. Easy hike to Fort Casey State Park, the ferry terminal, lighthouse, etc. We heard owls at night and saw bald eagles by day. The sunsets were gorgeous. Such a treasure.||Cons: Unfortunately, the kitchen dishes weren't clean. Almost every piece we pulled out / checked before use had "stuff" stuck to it. There was a dishwasher but we chose not to use it. It also looked a bit dirty. Handwashed a couple of plates, bowls and silverware for our use and washed/reused them during our stay. Found tons of dead flies stuck to tape on inside window upstairs hiding behind curtain. It was kind of gross; not sure what the problem might have been or how long they've been there. Thin curtains don't provide much privacy at night and let a lot of sunlight in early. Furniture in living room was difficult to sit on - really sunk into the cushions. We never knew how to set the thermostat while there, but we were very comfortable. ||One thing I would note: The stairs are very steep. The bedrooms and bathroom are located upstairs. No grab bars in the tub/shower. This could make staying in the units difficult for older or physically challenged travelers.||Overall the place was okay as far as cleanliness, but it was sad to see how much work is needed. In many ways it felt like a It's got to be incredibly expensive to maintain. I hope it can be kept up (but that will likely mean higher rates) and preserved. It would be a shame to lose these accommodations.
First of all, Kirsten and Autumn who were the people we contacted were amazing, and were very friendly, responsive and timely in all communications! SO grateful for them!!||We utilized Garrison Hall as a gathering place and a place for bridesmaids to do hair and makeup for our daughter's wedding at Crockett Farm just a 1/4 of a mile away. IT WAS PERFECT! They had tables and comfy chairs, a full kitchen that we were able to utilize for breakfast food that morning, including dishware and coffee pot, big refrigerator, oven and dishwasher. In fact, the groomsmen were able to join them there after pictures at the Ft Casey lighthouse, and partake of the food and beverage, and with the little deck out front there was plenty of space for 25 people to mingle and enjoy the fantastic view for an hour or so, before the wedding.||Windows that we could open and get fresh air, and a little portable humidifier/AC unit, and most importantly, a generous single space bathroom!||We also donated 4 small standing mirrors for the next group of bridesmaids and/or groomsmen, that may need a place to dress. An awesome choice to rent for a very reasonable price!!
This was my second stay at Fort Casey Inn, and I love it here! The history and nostalgia of the home and decor. Exploring this part of Whidbey Island is always a joy, and we saw short-eared owls nearby! Dinner at Front Street Grill is a must-do, and nearby Callen's had great food and good prices, too! It was a great stop along our Cascade Loop Adventure!
We stayed in house #1. Musty smell everywhere, clogged sink in the bathroom, not working fireplace (was fixed on the second day per request). What made our experience really bad - kids found 3 needles on the floor in the bedroom, after that we found another 4. While checking it - found a lot of dust in every corner. Team who clean and maintain the house does not do a good job. Do not recommend
Rustic but comfortable. We were supposed to camp at Fort Casey State Park this weekend but my husband had to work so he needed a kitchen table and wifi. The wifi wasn’t great but he made it work. The claw foot tub in unit 3 was cute but lacking a stopper. Good location and my daughter and I were able to do many nice beach walks while my husband worked.
We just spent a few days at the Doctor's House at Fort Casey Inn, and our family of four was very comfortable in this spacious house, with a furnished kitchen for our own meal preparation, and two separate bedrooms with comfortable, clean queen sized beds. The house is rustic, keeping the feel of the time period, with subtle modern touches to appeal to our need for comfort. Although it maintains the vintage feel with it's decor and old smell, it was very clean! We loved the Doctor's House for it's privacy. We truly felt like we were in our own little mountain house with it's cozy, tucked away setting. There is access to trails through the thick forest as well as the beach. While gathering shells and driftwood is prohibited on the Fort Casey beach, that certainly did not stop us from enjoying the soothing sights and sounds of the ocean waters on the shore. Loved our time there, bonding as a family.
This place is beautiful. If you like the outdoors this place is a must. -It has a camp site settled into a gorgeous spot in the woods. -There is drive up beach access. Panoramic ocean views and old forts to explore. -There are also running trails tha
Wonderful place to spend an afternoon. Beautiful sweeping views of the Olympic peninsula, calm waters, and sailing ships. Great place to explore the history of the place, climb up the lighthouse, and even see what it is like to live in the Lighthouse
Ebeyâs Landing Bluff Trail is a hidden gem for hikers and nature lovers. What really sets Ebey's Landing apart are the breathtaking views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. The combination of coastal bluffs, rolling fields, and historic
Delightfully impressive park! Saw it on the map while road tripping and stopped in and was a highlight of the trip. Placing the works amongst the forest provides a very striking and contrastive backdrop. The walk is easy to moderate and not long. Fel
We tried another restaurant here in Coupeville but they had a two hour wait at 5 pm (kudos to them!), so we back-tracked it here because we love Thai food. I was not disappointed. Spring rolls are a work of art, and the Pad Thai was delicious. Thanks
What a magical place to find history of this beautiful island. Love the way this little place is set up. Very interactive and children friendly. The staff are so friendly and they are very happy to answer any questions that you have. Can't wait to co
We fell into this place by accident and so glad we did. Three of us shared mussels with white wine sauce, shrimp, bread and fries. The flavors in each dish were exquisite and had their own distinct flavor profiles. I'm a fan of highly seasoned food a
