As an Asian American, I love spicy food and this Mapo dofu (麻婆豆腐) at Formosa has the flavours and spice levels that always satisfy my cravings!
Love the spices and ratio of tofu to sauce, not too oily. Plus free bowl of rice and can ask for no meat added. Dumplings are great too. Not a fried food fan so no comment on any of the deep fried food (crab Rangoon, chicken fingers, egg roll, fortune cookie, etc.).
Highly recommend this restaurant as it offers both westernised Chinese food and more traditional offerings (finally!)
The appetizers were all great, especially the scallion pancakes and buns. The pan soup dumplings were also good. Were the meal lost momentum was the main course, everything was good just not as amazing as the pre game. Nice service and beautiful restaurant.
Beef with Mung Bean Sprouts is a satisfying blend of taste and texture, with chunks of beef mixed with fresh and crunchy bean sprouts, alongside sauteed green onions; consumed with brown rice, it's an irresistibly healthy and delicious option for Chinese cuisine.
The food deserves 5 stars! My sesame chicken and my husband's orange chicken were so good!! Taking it down a star for the service. We felt a little neglected during our time there. We didn't even know who our server was because it was four different people who came to our table over the course of our meal. Our water glasses were only checked once, after being empty for a while, and I didn't get my appetizer until my main course was almost gone. Would like to go back sometime though, for the food, and maybe we would get served better.
I've been here twice so far and I've ordered the szechuan soft shell crab, the beef tongue appetizer, and the beef and tomato hotpot w/ bean noodles. All were delicious. The crab was my favorite, soft on the inside crunchy on the outside and so so spicy while still being incredibly flavorful. This restaurant has a classy atmosphere, and many fun and interesting dishes. Even dad loved it and he's incredibly picky. Can't wait to come back and sample more from this menu.
This place has good service and food, especially for the price. I think I paid about $22 including tax and tip for lunch, which included soup and rice. I do recommend the food I ordered if you enjoy eating spicy food, but if you have a weak stomach, order something more mild off the menu.
Food: excellent, we shared many dishes family style. It was all very good to excellent. My favorites were the beef stuffed scallion pancakes and the radish pancakes (more like a radish hash brown than pancake).
Portions: very good for price. We had leftovers.
Authenticity: very authentic Taiwanese food.
Service: quick, food came out fairly quick.
Friendliness: mixed. We were seated straight away. However, the man who seated us seemed agitated. They need a host. The waitress was friendly.
Menu: very large.
Atmosphere: very standard decor. We dined toward the end of lunch on a weekday. No wait, but seemed fairly busy when we got there.
Is one my 2 favorite Asian restaurants. The other being a single pebble in Burlington, VT.
This is our favorite restaurant in the area. Not just the best Chinese food but the best food overall.
Incredible every time .
The Sichuan dishes are our favorite (particularly the soft shell crabs and the shrimp ones), the whole fish with ginger and scallion, Lou mei, and soups are other favorites.
Highly recommend.

Probably the best Chinese in the area..actually had good flavor when we ate in the restaurant. Szechuan flavor was on point. Dumplings a bit bland. Really nice waiter to our big party
Best Chinese food in Amherst downtown. The authentic Pork Shredded in Beijing Sauce are not found in any other Chinese restaurant! Mapo Tofu is another dish I highly recommend. The spiciness of the Szechuan food here is just as it should be.
Besides,
I got a mixed platter which I ate too fast to take a picture so I took a photo of the fried oreos which are amazing! They do get packed on weeknights which is stressful on the employees. I mean packed! But come on a regular day or earlier customer se

An outstanding tribute to Eric Carle. The bookstore and library have an excellent array of moving/meaningful kids' books. The artistic displays, throughout the museum and in the bookstore, are incredible. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
