Rest in peace Forest Oaks. Although it wasn’t the best course, I played here quite frequently. The price of $30 for a round of golf made it easy to keep coming back. I enjoyed playing here and having a fun, casual round of golf. The one guy who worked in the pro shop (can’t remember his name) always was friendly and made some good hot dogs. I will definitely miss playing this course and I was sad when I heard they were closing permanently

Well, if you haven't been to Forest Oaks, you are out of luck. It's permanently closed and will be new homes soon. I enjoyed playing this course in the past.

The Forest Oaks Golf course had narrow fairways which made the game a bit harder but we did enjoy the challenge. Just wish the course was in a better condition in some spots.

May not be the best course in the world but the people are great and welcoming. I love coming to this course every time

Very interesting course, first time i have played here. 6 par 3s, 6 par 5s. Course is short but a good amount of dogleggs and large water hazards requires strategic thinking. Narrow fairways!! Driver every hole not suggested. Greens in very good shape, the fairways and roughs are just okay. Live about 40 miles away, I don't golf up here very often. Would gladly return if I lived closer

This is one of the worst golf courses I have ever played in my entire life. First, it’s in absolutely horrible condition. Even where there is grass, it’s just garbage. And I expected the course to be short, so that’s fine, but it’s completely ridiculous how narrow it is. I don’t know who actually had the dumb idea that a golf course could fit on this tiny piece of land between all these houses. The only positive things I can say about this course are that the greens are in pretty good shape and the one staff person that we met was very nice.

This is the hardest easy golf course in Palm Beach County. Grounds conditions: This course is pretty mixed. The greens are typically well maintained, but the fairway and rough are pretty dry/sandy. Some of the tee boxes are a bit domed, but generally they're fine. Amenities are pretty bare bones here. Staff/services: The place has a pretty 'ol boy' local vibe, which some may not like (I personally do). This is clearly a hangout for some very loyal regulars and the guys who run it seem real pleasant. It is not corporatized at all, and its one of the only places where you can damn near guarantee that they will get you out on the course on short notice during peak season. The flip side of it is that the pacing can be a bit lacking. It can be easy to get caught in senior-foursome bumper-to-bumper traffic if you're a good golfer, with no hope of playing through. The clubhouse is aged, but it has a Bavarian mountain house design that is really quite striking and will feel friendly to mid-Westerners (and Germans). The course design: Sheesh... The fairways are as narrow as they come. To be accurate, I pulled up Google maps. The middle of the fairway on hole 1, which is a standard width for the course, is ~50 yards from OB-to-OB, which is to say, from water hazard to residential hazard. Most of the course is sandwiched between water and houses, which is typical in Florida, but these fairways are *very* tight. For context, I also measured many of the fairways at Okeeheelee, and most of the fairways are themselves as wide as this course's OB-to-OB. The distances are bit wonky too, with some short Par 4/5s and some regular/long Par 3s. I imagine it took a lot of engineering and design to squeeze this place into so tight a spot, so I give them a pass on that. Almost all of the green have a very difficult dome design. They're small to begin with, which is exacerbated by the fact that its real hard to get a ball to stick when it's like they're designed to kick the ball off one side or the other. All in all, this is a great course if you want some more affordable golf, aren't a huge stickler about distance, and want to improve your short/mid game. Don't let the overall yardage or handicap rating fool you, this is a tough course. This course adds 5-10 strokes to my game compared to longer Par-72 courses, and its not course conditions, the narrow fairways, hazards, and mound greens make this a great course to improve on (and rage smash a couple clubs in the process).

I have been living alongside the 17th hole, and this is a busy course. I've spoken with some of the golfers and was surprised that some drive a fair distance to play here. I walk my dog along the sides of the fairways off hours (with doggie-do bags of course), and it's lovely, a lot of the original native trees preserved in natural copses unlike some other courses that were razed to begin with, then planted with whatever, and are "too perfectly" groomed. There is abundant birds, including the occasional roseate spoonbill and wood storks along the water features. The owners expect to break ground this summer, hundreds of residences to cover the greens, so better hurry if you want to try it. Current homeowners have a suit to enforce original deed restrictions and hoa's water feature ownership, but the folks who run the club house say they have no doubt the construction begins in June.
