Career auto worker and I forgot how awe inspiring it is to see an assembly line working for the 1st time. The the joy and awe on the kids faces...and even the adult chaperones, was really cool to see. We also visited the Henry Ford Museum. They really do a nice job! Worth the visit!
Must do the tour with the museum. I enjoyed it. Very knowledge people everywhere to answer all questions. Got to see where the raptors are built. The f150 video in the beginning was simply amazing. They don't run the assembly line on weekends but it was still awesome to see.
The Rouge Factory tour via The Henry Ford is absolutely amazing! I recommend that anyone of all ages take the tour. Watch this manufacturing giant in action. The movie shown at the beginning of the tour was surprisingly good! It immersed you in the history of the complex with 360 screen views and also via sound and smells. You definitely become part of the place. Next, the observation tower. See the living roof and an overview of the complex. Watch newly born F-150's take their first steps so to speak over the Shake'm up course before being parked and loaded onto their final destination. This is the only place where cameras are allowed on the tour. You were warned! Next up to the factory. One elevated catwalks you'll see from start to finish the making of an F-150! What an iconic truck, and it's made by awesome people. After this there is a gift shop and back on the bus to the museum. The tour is 2 to 3 hours long. It's worth every penny for the ticket!
Fantastic insights on how Henry Ford has shaped today's America! Note for visitors in July: Ford's F-150 production line is off for 2 weeks every year in July. It's a tradition that is still ongoing thanks to their strong union. Hence why you won't be able to see workers on the band, but it's still worthwhile visiting. You can see how staff is taking pride in their job and how much knowledge they have that they like to happily share with you! Just ask any Ford related question and you'll receive an answer! Absolutely recommend!
We were only allowed to take photos in the lobby. The day I was there , they were producing F-150 Lightening and Raptors! It was really cool. Worth the $22.50 (I’m a member)
The bus ride from the Henry Ford Museum was interesting to see how the people live. Entering the 1100 acre complex you get an idea of the massive capital investment to make a Ford F150 every 53 seconds when the line is running. You pull up to a visitor complex that cost over $4 million to build. You will see a laser show, technical marvels, cut away preproduction models, ecological facts, history and lots of good hardworking people. We were told to allow an hour and a half. 4 hours later we left. Plenty to see, take your time and learn, realize the viewpoints. Some of the truths are not pretty but they are talked about (the incident on the bridge) but they do a good job. Very clean, polite and informative people, and an interesting place to visit.
Assembly line was closed for veterans day. I'll try again next time in town. Tour was pretty good. Ford was an innovator and I want to see the line in motion.
The factory tour was amazing. I especially loved the movie introducing the history of Ford and the motor industry we watched first before starting the tour. And we also entered the working factory of Ford SUVs(couldn't take photo there). I recommend visiting Ford Museum before or after visiting here. There are shuttles connecting the two places.
