Focus BBQ - Chinese restaurant in City of Industry - 18558 Gale Ave #272, USA

Had always wanted to try this but never did since I usually came to this plaza for dessert and ended up smelling the bbq aroma. Finally did and was absolutely horrified by what I got. After coming from eating different skewer places in the past month, this place by far earns the place of never again. Everything was slightly wet or sticky which is already a big tell. There was virtually no wait to enter, given that all other places have about an hour or so wait, and the food that came out was just horrid. The flavoring was just strange and the biggest disappointment was the lean meat skewer. When my food comes out looking like it's someone's leftovers, it kinda is revolting. The *best" skewer we ordered was the lamb, which was palatable at best. Highly would advise people to skip this location.

There’s not many establishments that are open till 2AM, but when I found Focus BBQ here in the City of Industry, I’ve been coming here almost 3 times a week. Do you have a great selection of food with a decent selection of greens as well. Customer service is impeccable and very attentive. Grateful for what they offer and hope anyone nearby to check them out to experience what I have. You will not be disappointed. And I dare you to try the fried milk! It is something you would definitely need to experience…

If I could get 0 star that wlll be it. Edamame is freezing, when offered you could find tiny ice inside. The waiter has no respect to customers. While we’re are looking into the menus, he ended up interrupting saying that “I got so many things on hand you guys need to let me know when fully ready”. The meat screwers are disgusting. You’ve no idea what meat is provided. When asking for check, they ended up not collect your credit card and I have to go to the front desk to give to them. They end up not knowing where our desk is to return my credit card lmao. Bottom line, food is disgusting. Servicing even more terrible. Bye

I enjoyed this restaurant with my family. The service was great and the people were friendly and helpful. I recommend it for the food, too. The lamb and beef skewers were me and my family’s favorites. We will be coming back to this place!

Really authentic northern Chinese cuisine! Would recommend for everyone who wants to try it. Also the environment and service are great.

Love the environment. We can eat in the outside, on the roof. The lamb skewers and pork belly with needle mushroom are excellent. The leek and Mala Tang are oily. Overall it's a good experience.

3.75 star overall. 2nd take-out visit two days in a row. Surprised at the portion and good taste given the overall 3 star review. My family was pretty satisfied with the taste and would return. Tastes authentic and do-able. 4.5 star food. On Both take out orders, the skewers felt a little cooler than I was expecting to be fresh off the grill. But the taste is good and portion is much larger than Little Skewers, so this alone makes it feel more worth it to return. 3 star service. Service was average typical China-Chinese, non-American style. Waited quite a long time to order take out as they seems to be busy & short staffed Friday night around 10 pm. Ordered again next evening on Saturday around 5:30 pm and barely any customers at that time so the order was fast. 3 star other. Friday night, the restaurant dining area and the whole plaza, in general, smells like cigarettes. So many smokers seem to hang out in that plaza at that time. Not a pleasant smell walking around. The restaurant also habitually leaves cardboard containers and boxes out on the walkway (right outside the restaurant kitchen door) which makes the restaurant look very China-ghetto. I wish they didn’t do that. Is that even legal to be leaving trash out on the walkway like that? So the standard of cleanliness and organization brings down the restaurant a notch. Overall, I would return from time to time if I happen to feel like it.

Frequent customer. This is my go to place for the beef rice noodle and beef skewers. Friendly staff and cold beer and the outdoor seating is great.
