Florida Historic Capitol Museum - History museum in Tallahassee - 400 S Monroe St, USA

Historical and political developments of The Florida State are displayed on two floors of the building. The receptionist across the counter is very friendly and she explained about the building in brief and asked us to revert back if any assistance is needed. A small floor map also made available to the tourists near the reception. An introductory video of 8 minutes duration was played on a big TV. The Senate house, Members house and Supreme court are portrayed for visitors. Selfie spot was provided. Free entry for all. No ticket. For parking, need to use the public parking provided in 5 levels. The parking fee is $1 for the first two hours.

Visited the Florida State Capital as we love history. Its free to the public. You can feel the presence of the past still lingering as you walk the halls.

Very interesting informative tour. Highly recommended for everyone! I thought I was pretty knowledgeable and still learned a lot of new facts and information! However, children under 7yo probably would get a little bored, unless you get creative to represent information to them in a fun interactive way 😉 Entrance is free, but donations recommended $10. I would recommend to look into a parking instructions prior arriving as it could get a little confusing. But we called the museum and a professional Guest Relations Rep provided us with excellent parking instructions. Everyone there was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and courteous. We have had absolutely wonderful experience!

I'm a sucker for old historic museums, and this fits that box very well. Very interesting. But if you don't like to read, this might be a pain.

Lots of history, I was there for 2.5 hours and I enjoyed every bit of it. I didn't get to finish touring the museum and will plan to be back. The old senate and house buildings are like walking back in time!

This is a beautiful and substantial 1902 building. I believe it's the third Florida capital on the same site, the first having been a log cabin. All major government functions were performed here at one time: The Florida House, the Senate, and the Supreme Court all met in this building and you can visit restored Chambers for all three. The historical exhibitions are quite good and the staff is excellent. My only complaint, as a member of the museum, is that the exhibits don't change frequently enough. It is well worth a visit whether you live in town or are passing through Tallahassee.

I was hesitant to bring the kids here, but as soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and a scavenger hunt for the kids to do. They found everything on the list and were given a prize at the end. Highly educational and fun for my 7 year old, and my 10 year old. Not your average museum! We loved it.

Too bad we can't give more than 5 stars. This place is amazing. Very nicely maintained, full of history (as you'd expect). You're greeted by a very nice, very knowledgeable gentleman who gives you a brief introduction and answers all of your questions. Then your self guided tour begins. Plan to spend at least 1-2 hours. Well worth it.
