Flama Llama - Latin American restaurant in San Diego - 4433 Convoy St, USA

Flama Llama is a fusion restaurant that combines Chinese and Peruvian cuisines, which drew me in as a fan of both culinary styles. I visited with a good friend and found the welcoming and cozy ambiance to be a positive first impression. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and we were given the freedom to choose our preferred spot. During our visit, we explored their happy hour menu, which featured a good selection of cocktails. For our meal, we ordered the Mojo Pork, consisting of slow-cooked shredded pork served with rice and sweet plantain. The pork was flavorful, tender, lean, and savory, while the plantain stood out for being soft, succulent, and sweet. We also tried the Paella with shrimp, mussel, and calamari. The calamari was tender, the seafood portions were generous, and the Aji Verde (green spicy sauce) complemented the flavors well. Additionally, the rice alone was flavorful. The service was prompt, and the food was freshly made to order. Notably, the seafood in the paella was fresh, and the mussels were cleaned and cooked well. Choosing from their diverse food and dessert options took us some time, and with the appealing variety, it's clear I'll need to make a return visit to try more items from their menu.

This was a lovely place. Can be a little challenging to get to depending on location you are coming from. Just work your way through the parking lots. As for food the Wan Tons were top notch. Second would recommend the Lomo Saltado. It is a slight bit on the salty side but good flavor. The sake drinks are also a pleasant surprise. Great job to the service staff, the food came out fast and very hot.

We really enjoyed Flama Llama for both the atmosphere and food. The restaurant is very open and roomy, which is great when it's busy for letting you feel like you still have room. The food and drinks were all great - very flavourful and cooked just right. The beef saltado was amazing, but I think my favourite item was the plantains. Parking can be a little difficult so be aware if it's a busy time. There's a restroom located outside that was pretty clean and well-kept as well.

Great food. Green sauce was really good...not too spicy. The cuts on the scallions and onions were everything! I had a little bit of every ingredient in each bite. The eggs were nice and silky. Definitely enough for one person...and quite possibly 2 people if neither are huge eaters. Service was great. Atmosphere was nice with exception of the chairs which were rather uncomfortable. I found myself shifting around in my seat quite carefully few times. Restrooms were very clean. Overall, it was a good experience. I'd definitely go back to experience an evening meal.

I've been wanting to come here for a while and I'm so glad I finally did! Don't miss out on this gem, the food was incredibly flavourful, the portions were excellent 👌 and the service was courteous and quick! It's one of those things where the food tastes even better than you thought it would. Plus I love the atmosphere theme! 10/10 would definitely come back!!

The food tasted wonderful! The Lomo Saltado was almost too salty, but it was delicious! Chili Wontons were delectable. Only atmosphere critique is that A/C was blasting and while I was okay with it my wife was chilly even with a long-sleeve on.

Flama Llama @flamallamasd brings Chinese food with Peruvian twist to @convoydistrict A rather refreshing addition to the Convoy community. I was excited to see a unique restaurant like Flama Llama so I had to try it. My friends and I ordered almost all items from their rather small menu. We all agreed that the food and drinks were delicious. 👍🏼 We’ll come back for sure.

Uncomfortable seating, unsafe electrical overhead, meals are with too sweet or too salty, lemonade is acid water, chewy tough meat cuts. Only good thing is the fries and plantain. Oh did I mention the white rice is the worst? and chipped plates. Not worth eating in or getting togo.
