Just dog bliss! Our corgi will just run end to end chasing the seagulls! Big enough to find some space for yourself usually or make tons of friends meeting other dogs!

Port San Luis use to be the place to go. Not so much now. There are many new rules which are not posted except at the site. No dogs allowed on DOG BEACH any more. No place for our traveling companions, dogs, to relieve themselves. Every dirt patch now has a sign stating "Sensitive Area Stay Out". There are still dogs on Dog Beach. There is still a dog poop bag station setup next to the sensitive area signs. The camp host said, in email, she doesn't agree with the no dogs on beach rule. I pointed out 7 dogs on the beach to her, she said she notified harbor patrol. Guess who never showed up to enforce this rule. There was a camper stuck, yelling for help, trying to climb a 75ft cliff going from Dog Beach to the cliff camping sites. Unable physically to help I called the harbor patrol office, spoke to Chris. It took Chris 25 minutes before responding to help. Other campers ended up helping her. Cars are parked in clearly marked No Parking areas yet harbor patrol never bothered to look into this, even after driving past these vehicles several times. To all of us campers it looks like they only enforce rules when they want to. There is a terrible speeding problem in front of the waterfront campsites. The roadway is posted 15mph limit but noone enforces it. There are many many issues that need to be addressed at this site.

Great little beach in Port San Luis Harbor. You'll find it at the very end of Avila Beach Drive on the left before you make it to the parking lot. It's a small beach but there are no cars allowed and usually not many people on it. Dogs are no longer allowed on this beach.

What a great place to come and let your dog run free! It should be understood that dogs are dogs and it is the responsibility of the owner to make judgment calls on the hostility of thier animal. Also, it's a good thing the tide comes in twice a day to wash away all the dog urine and fecies. And wouldn't it be better to just let the dog pooh biodegrade naturally instead of wrapping it in a plastic bag only to take an extra 150 years because half of the people don't bother to take the bag of pooh with them after doing their part of bagging it up!

Very nice times to be had here. Warning the dogs can run up the rocks to he roadside where the listed speed is 40 and it's a very narrow two lanes with lots of parked cars. There is some serious danger for the dogs in that regard, my dog was all most hit and killed in that situation. I ripped open my foot running vertical up jagged rocks. Besides that it's pretty amazing beach spot for off the collar dogs and beach great for kids

Not a dog beach. That one is a few yards away before this beach. Which is nice to have both options. This portion doesn't have a bathroom. The dog beach at Old Porte does.

Beautiful area for day visits and camping. Very safe water conditions and weather is typically great. The sand and beach are nice and clean. Routine Harbor Patrol patrols of the area are good for all around checks on safety and assistance if needed.

1. This is NOT dog friendly, the dog beach part is the tiny beach on the other side of the rocks. 2. It’s filthy, it’s covered in rotting seaweed and the water is orange and smells like dead fish. 3. The road is very close and poses a danger to dogs and children. 4. There is no beach amenities such as a bathroom or a place to rinse off after. The best dog beach is Morro Bay Dog Beach or Pismo. We came here to try something new because it’s 40 minutes closer. Not worth it.

Very cool, worth the short hike and climb down some rocks to get to the tide pools. Just check the tide times before you go.

Great atmosphere and great whiskeys! The Distiller's Reserve Rye is probably the best rye I've ever had, and we just got back from a week on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
