Fireside Lodge - Hotel in South Lake Tahoe - 515 Emerald Bay Rd, USA

We just returned from 2 terrific nights at the Fireside Lodge while visiting our daughter working nearby. South Lake Tahoe is not filled w/luxurious or super-service oriented spots to stay; most are older or quasi-renovated former roadside motels. The Fireside is one of those (traditional lodge feel & decor), but with the most wonderful human touch. Upon check-in we were offered a tour…the pride of ownership & attention to every sweet detail was immediately evident. From an awesome breakfast set-up to nightly firepit s’mores to DVD’s (every room has a player) to cruiser bikes to a meditation/sauna room, there’s a conscious effort to make every stay a full & fun one. The rooms themselves are clean w/comfy beds & updated, stocked bathrooms. There’s a kitchenette w/min-fridge, dishes, etc. The location & access to national forest trails, etc. can’t be beat. Everyone on staff was incredibly friendly & helpful. So yes, we’d highly recommend this property…it’s a real treat to stay somewhere these days where folks care so much about your experience, & try so hard to make it as enjoyable as possible.

We stayed in Moose Lodge (room #1) at Fireside Lodge, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The room is situated right next to CA-89, with the window less than 30 feet from the highway. Keeping the window open at night means being woken up by a car every 10 minutes, which is far from ideal. We initially tried to keep the window closed to block out the noise, but the room temperature became unbearable, rising to 81F while we were trying to sleep, even though it was only 49F outside. There’s no AC, so even with the window open, you have to keep the fan on to cool the room, adding to the noise. We couldn’t figure out why it was so hot, but the room is next to the ice maker room, which is extremely warm. Maybe that’s the reason. As a result, we haven’t been able to sleep, and it’s currently 2am as I write this review. Sadly, this has really impacted our vacation. We spent over $400 per night for this room, which makes the situation even more frustrating. While the staff were really nice to us, I would advise avoiding Moose Lodge Room #1 if you’re sensitive to noise and temperature.

Fireside Lodge is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Lake Tahoe. The entire staff was so kind and helpful. The amenities including breakfast, bikes, DVDs, and happy hour were wonderful touches. The rooms were cute, clean, and had everything you'd need. But mostly, I've never stayed somewhere that was more dog friendly. They not only welcome pets, but love pets! They allow dogs to roam off-leash and to stay in the rooms unattended - something not common at all at other accommodations. I highly recommend staying here, and I know I would most certainly stay here again upon my next visit!

Wonderful lodging! We regret we could only stay one night. Hosts Eric and Olivia were exceptional. Welcomed us and our dog Lorelei (a German shepherd). Wine and cheese happy hour allowed us to meet other guests and let Lorelei engage with other very friendly dogs. Close to hiking areas. Very comfortable room and quiet location. Loved the themes of the lodging and having a kitchenette. Highly recommend a visit!

Daughter and I had a blast staying here. The walking, bike trails right behind the property, the fierce ping pong and air hockey games, smores at night and waffles in the morning (with warm syrup and all the fix'ns) made for a fabulous visit. We also loved spending time with Kai, the dog. Thank you Fireside Lodge for the special visit and memory making.

We felt very comfortable right away as the staff are all so nice, and the place just feels homey. Really preferred this quieter side of South Lake, with National Forest land and bike paths right there. We even saw a bear cross the road. They're all over the place now so be mindful. You have to pay in full when booking but it's understandable as they really are a small family operation.

Although our stay was brief, we wished we could have lingered longer to soak in the cozy ambiance and hospitality that Fireside Lodge exudes. In the morning, we had the pleasure of meeting Tracy and Steve, the parent owners, who treated us to the most delectable waffles adorned with fresh berries. Their warmth and genuine interest in their guests made us feel like part of the family. Fireside Lodge stands out among other accommodations in Tahoe for its genuine care and dedication to creating a welcoming environment. With amenities like a s'mores pit, a dog-friendly atmosphere, and a delightful happy hour, every detail is thoughtfully curated to ensure a perfect stay for families. Our time here left us longing to return, and we will definitely be back. Thank you, Fireside Lodge, for making us feel so welcome and for providing us with cherished memories. This is undoubtedly a must-book destination for anyone visiting Tahoe.

Cozy, beautiful lodge in a great location, minutes from Lake Tahoe. This a family friendly location for a good laidback vacation. The hosts were very friendly, provided simple but great options for breakfast.
