What a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is very pleasant, the servers are helpful and friendly. We started with the roasted carrots. I was skeptical but our server said it was a favorite. They were phenomenal! Well seasoned and cooked so they were not too soft. My husband ordered the meatloaf. I'm not usually a fan of meatloaf but he gave me a taste and it was out of this world! I had the strip steak medium rare. It came out perfect and well seasoned. We ended with the brownie and what a way to end. I definitely will be back.
I recently had the pleasure of dining, and I was thoroughly impressed! The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, with a warm and inviting decor. The service was top-notch, with friendly and knowledgeable staff.
This has been an overdue review! Fig & Ash Restaurant is an absolute gem that should not missed if visiting Pittsburgh! From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for an unforgettable culinary journey. Whatever you order will be a fantastic treat. The menu boasts an array of dishes that celebrate locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, and even house milled grains. Did I mention they have a wood fire! The attention to detail in the preparation and presentation of each dish is truly remarkable. The service here is top-notch, the waitstaff is friendly, accommodating, and always ready to offer recommendations or answer any questions you may have. Fig & Ash should be at the top of your list for any occasion. I would recommend reservations as they are usually booked. They do have limited seating in front of the open kitchen, which is fun if you're lucky enough to snag those seats!
Awesome restaurant tucked in the north shore. The pork belly and short rib meatloaf is delicious. The atmosphere is really cool as well. Service was friendly and attentive. Definitely will be back to try some new dishes.
Excellent ambiance and staff. Great attention to detail - glasses full, plates bussed, right utensils at the right time. The place had a high-end, homey vibe. However... The food was basic for the price point. With a menu this limited each dish should be interesting and expressive. Instead, we were left underwhelmed. For instance, the cream sauce on the pasta was well-made, but lacked character. Just a note of citrus or thyme or heck even being offered cracked black pepper could have kicked it up a notch. Similarly, the pasta was billed as a mushroom pasta that boasted local mushrooms, but in reality it had nothing more than a smattering of sliced button mushrooms. My husband quipped, "That was a bold choice," especially given that Pittsburgh has excellent access to a variety of local mushroom options. This experience played out in its own way for the entirety of our meal. We ordered 5 dishes. All five left us with the impression that while the basics were solid, the finish was weak.
In town visiting friends who hadn’t been here but recommended it. We all LOVED it! Great decision. Definitely not cheap but well worth it and the food was absolutely amazing. (I had the meatloaf - STUNNING)! Great service, too. We’d definitely visit again.
Step into Fig & Ash and enter a world of sophistication. From the ambiance to the presentation of dishes, everything exudes elegance. A perfect choice for special occasions or a luxurious dining escape.
May 2022: This is such a great hole in the wall. The ambiance is so unique, almost like an apothecary. The service is amazing and the staff clearly love their jobs and take them very seriously. When one of the waiters delivered our appetizer, he even said “this looks really good!” 😂 The food and drinks are amazing. They have a relatively small menu, but everything is crafted to perfection! And, I truly mean crafted—for taste and the experience (for example: smoking drinks & seeping lavender in your tea mixed drink for a second flavor profile). That being said, the prices are very reasonable. I felt like I was pampered here, yet we only spent ~$150 with tip for 2 (4 drinks, 1 app, 2 entrees). I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be bringing friends & family here again! Edit March 2023: Some dishes & the drinks weren’t as finished as last time, but all were still tasty. Plus the service is unbeatable. Best dish of the night was the burratta.
We stopped in for a Saturday lunch and we were not disappointed one bit! This place is such a serene spot to eat at and the food is amazing. I never knew rice could taste so good! Service was amazing and so were the portions. Canât wait to stop he
