Had the pleasure of staying here on a Monday night during the second week of January. I booked a single king bed room in the main house and it was a great choice for lodging! They included a welcome package with snacks and bottled waters and offered free breakfast from 8 am - 10 am. The location is a 10 minute walk from downtown Stowe with many restaurants on the way and the walk is very scenic. It’s about a 10 minute drive to Spruce Peak and Mt. Mansfield base by car, they offer a free shuttle to the mountain but it’s about a 25-30 minute shuttle ride. Unless staying mountain side at The Lodge at Spruce Peak is important to you, I would stay here for the nearby conveniences and the accessibility of downtown Stowe.
I had a truly wonderful experience at Field Guide Lodge. The team there takes great care and pride in their guest experience.
I was welcomed to my room with cookies and a locally-sourced welcome gift. The bed was comfortable, made with soft sheets and a fluffy comforter. They even had good pillows. The soaps provided in the bathroom smelled fantastic and were of high quality. I appreciated being able to open my room’s windows and also control the heat of the room with the thermostat. The rooms had great lighting with dimmers for ambiance. The wood furniture kept it a cozy ski vibe and the drawers were spacious for all my things. They had a wet-shoes pad and a place to hang all my ski stuff.
I was there for over a week and had some requests for housekeeping that they filled right away.
They had coffee and tea available all day and closer to the weekend, had a bar and eatery available. I really enjoyed that they had games in their public spaces which I made use of by the wood fireplaces. I also appreciated that when the fireplace was off, it just took asking at the desk for someone to make another fire. There wasn’t hard set times for the fireplaces.
The public space provided great working space too for when I needed to take a meeting or answer emails.
The location of the hotel is so convenient. A 9 minute drive from Stowe mountain, a stones throw from the center of town, and walking distance from some really great restaurants and cafes.
Parking was also really easy and on days of lots of snow they kept salting and plowing the parking lots.
Thank you to the Field Guide team with providing me with such a great experience. I would most definitely stay again.
My wife and I stayed as part of our honeymoon road trip, and we absolutely loved staying here as part of our trip. The staff were extremely kind, and were efficient with check in and checking out.
The lodge/lobby was so cute, and we found ourselves using the space to enjoy a glass of wine. There are multiple fireplaces to enjoy.
The room we stayed in was cute, clean, and we loved the views. We appreciated all the small touches they left for us.
We truly enjoyed our time here during our stay and wish to come back the next time we return to the northeast!
Absolutely loved every aspect of it. The main house with the lobby was so community-oriented- they had live music both nights I was there (chicken fat injection was an incredible band!). The bartenders were very sweet. It was a really spacious yet intimate feel.||As for the rooms, couldn’t have been better. I stayed in I think the suite in the trail house. It was so nice and the soaking tub and fireplace were extra special touches. Wish I could come back all of the time.||It was such a nice, intimate reprieve from the madness of the ski resorts
The decor is so cozy and really captures the ski lodge theme. The lobby has multiple gas fireplaces with seating which provide a nice spot to read or just hang out. After returning from dinner in the evenings, we really enjoyed playing board games and table shuffleboard in the lobby. There is also a bar that was open until 9PM and a firepit out back with people roasting marshmallows. |We stayed in the King Deluxe room which was very spacious. One of my only complaints would be the noise. There is not very good sound insulation, so it can be quite loud, especially in the morning if you are trying to sleep and can hear everyone walking through the halls and at breakfast. A few other minor issues- paint chipping in bathroom, poor lighting in bathroom, but nothing too significant that would impact our stay. |There is a breakfast provided each morning which included fruit, yogurt, quiche, and pastries. The food was very good and the perfect light meal before starting our day. |We frequent Stowe quite often and the location of this hotel is perfect. Walking distance to many great restaurants and a short drive to everything including the ski mountain and hiking trails. Overall, we had a lovely stay and will certainly return.
My husband and I stayed here for part of our honeymoon on our NE trip. We absolutely loved it! The staff was so friendly, the lodge was adorable, and our room was amazing. We were in the treehouse suite and we had a great layout and very nice bathtub. ||The lodge is open to guests even after staff is gone and you can play games, read, lounge, etc. sitting by the fire was our favorite. ||The only con was the breakfast was small and a little niche but it was still a good option! We will definitely be back and will recommend friends and family!
We absolutely loved our stay. We stayed in early November, so after the peak season it was nice and quiet. The hotel itself seems to be a bit older, but the rooms and the common areas were very nicely redone. The combination and the interior gave it a very cozy and comfortable feel. The only important thing is that it can be a bit noisy at night due to the building being older, I'd recommend to bring ear plugs if you're sensitive.
We really enjoyed reading a book in front of one of the three fire places and spent some time in the hot tub. The staff was really friendly and the breakfast was small but well selected, offering yoghurt, granola, fruit and mini quiche. Stowe is a beautiful little village with a few shops and restaurants, everything is in walking distance. Can't recommend the Field Guide Lodge enough, we would definitely stay here again.
· We had a beautiful room in the Trail House - actually more of an apartment, perfect for our stay with our 6 months old baby girl (she was sleeping in the bed room while we could relax in the living room). The common areas are super cozy and welcoming. The entire hotel is extremely well designed and decorated: contemporary but keeping the spirit of Vermont coziness. We really liked the breakfast: simple but delicious. And we could bring it up to the room
Wonderful room! The bed was the good kind of firm/ supportive I had no back pain the next day! Linens were crisp, and there was a good variety of pillow types. The room was very clean. There is only one complaint, and it's more of a nit pick than
If you're looking for luxury, skip it, that's not what you'll find here. But if you are constantly looking for small, high quality hotels, believe me, you will not be disappointed here. You will appreciate the attention to detail throughout their off
1. Nice place. A little pricey for the price, but Stowe cost about 30% more than Texas cost, so cost was consistent with other places.
2. TV was hard to navigate
3. Cleaning lady did not come till 4 or 5, when we were already in the room, making clea
My partner and I stayed at Stone Hill Inn the week after Christmas (Dec 2023) for a visit to Stowe. The communication leading up to our stay was first-rate, and we were provided with all the information you could ever need to plan a good stayâthink
Stowe's rec path: a scenic paradise for dogs and their humans! Stunning swimming spots for a refreshing break. Just be cautious â some cyclists are silent speedsters, so keep an eye out and enjoy the adventure!
My family and I had a wonderful stay over Christmas holidays at this wonderful Inn. Kim and Phill were super hosts. They were very welcoming to our boys and we felt at home. The gourmet breakfasts were delicious and served with a wonderful view. The
GiraKofi is great! Iâve been wanting to go here for quite a while and finally stopped in today. They have an impressive selection of teas, coffees, and even other drinks like flavored Red Bull! I personally love that - they can add like 20+ flavors
What a charming coffee shop / bakery!! We stopped in after learning they had a vegan breakfast sandwich! It was SO good! It was basically a fresh made muffin (from scratch!) with vegan egg, vegan cheese & vegan home made sausage! It was a nice size,
Very short hike, but you need to have good shoes. Put your swimsuit under your clothes and bring snacks; you will want to get in the water and stay for a while. You don't have to jump from the cliffs to enjoy a safe swim, just steady one foot at the
Great experience at Lake Champlain Chocolates! The staff was friendly, and the chocolate selection was amazing. I also tried their signature hot chocolate, which was absolutely delicious. If you love chocolate, this place is a must-visit!"
10/10. 5 stars. I couldnât stop talking about our breakfast after we left! The house made maple sausage was life changing. The eggs Benedict was superb. Crave worthy food! Our server was darling and so sweet, the atmosphere was cozy and family frie
