Famous Hot Weiner - Downtown Hanover - Fast food restaurant in Hanover - 101 Broadway, USA

Came from MD to eat a famous hot wiener. Super quaint diner, family photos on the walls, high schoolers behind the till, my aunt minus the cigarette taking my order. Atmosphere is diner. I might be in 1956, maybe 1978. My famous cheese wiener tasted like Pennsylvania. Delicious Americana. But it wasn’t hot. It was warm. Banana shake was laffy taffy, Runts flavored soft serve goodness.

I love the Famous Hot Weiner in Hanover. We travel here a couple of times a year now that we live at the beach, and now my kids are hooked too. It's just like I remember it from when I was a kid. The taste, the smell, the whole vibe. We even get a bunch of hotdogs to take back with us. They are just as good the next day. My wife actually likes them better the next day because the flavor from the chili, onions, and hotdogs all have a chance to marry together. Keep up the great work, and we will see you again soon. Thank you for all that you do.

Overall just a huge lacking in customer service… and my hot dog was burned I think the kids working there found it funny when their coworker told me to grab someone else’s food bag, he replied “there’s people in front of you” with a smirk lol what a joke. As someone who literally works in customer service I can say this was NOT the best wiener place and probably one of the worst. Last resort food stop lol not going there again.

Visited here for the first time with my son. It was more for experience rather than for the food. Not that the food was bad, it was good for what it was. It was exactly what we were looking for and what we expected. They were definitely hot weiner's no doubt about that. The toppings were great and the frys were good to. The price was right, the waitress was polite and the service excellent. It definitely was a cool experience none the less and my son and I had a great time conversing with the waitress and checking out all of the pictures on the wall, finding out all of the history of the restaurant and why the hotdogs snap when you bite into them. I don't think we'll be regulars but since my wife, kids and I kinda dub ourselves as foodies it was a cool place to visit and I definitely recommend you do the same if you ever find yourself in Hanover PA and you want some good hotdogs.

I give this place 5 stars for service and ambience. Such old school establishments like this are hard to find nowadays. It is like Bens Chili Bowl in D.C except they are not people of color and may not so hyped. The food is "OK" Hotdogs I give a B- but my hamburger was too small for the bread. So, a C. And it comes on a hot dog roll ! )-: The chili needs to be kicked up a notch in spiciness but that is just my taste, Both sandwiches have a lot of bread but then again, they load a lot onto the rolls. Give them credit for that. I am generally a minimalist with my wieners. Fries we decent, give the a B. I will come again and try to breakfast offerings.

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! Words really cant describe it. I have been coming here since I was a child with my Grandparents and hear stories of when they were kids coming here. Nothing can compare. I now live 3 hours away and cant find a Hot Dog that tastes as good. It is unique to the Hanover area. A MUST!

Stopped by late afternoon after driving by the place earlier that day. I ordered a bowl of chili and the special with one hot dog, one hamburger and fries. Never did get to try the hamburger because the order came out with two hotdogs. The fries were hot and good. Did not care for the hot dog it was more like a sausage. The chili as not bad would not win any chili cook-off. The value was was good for what you get.

Love the old style type eatery. It sits on the corner in Hanover in the original place it started. 100 years old this year and style going strong. Hot dogs, hamburgers, breakfasts and the shakes are to die for! This is a must place to eat.
