We were on our way to the beach and was looking for a place to stay for the night! We found this hotel…it looked clean when we walked in….when we walked into our room it was dirty hairs all over the place even a worm crawling around the bathroom…as well as little black stuff on our beds we literally slept woke up and left! I checked my bank statement and was charged 100$ because it smelled like weed and there was ashes everywhere! We don’t even smoke so I know it wasn’t us! When I called there wasn’t a manager on duty for me to speak with! Highly don’t recommend anyone staying here!
If I could give this hotel a - 10 I would. I pastored for some time in Rockingham and have probably given this hotel several thousand dollars worth of money in the past year and none of that mattered in the least to them. I am moving to Okeechobee, Fl and needed a place for my family to stay for 1 night after all of our things were loaded on the truck, since we would have no beds in our house. I booked the reservation and several hours the hotel called and informed me that I could not stay there because I didn’t live at least 50 miles away. I told the lady on the phone exactly what I needed the room for and that I did understand why they had that rule, but none of that mattered. They refused to look beyond their rule and see the situation. I do understand exactly why they have this rule, but none of that applied to me. I am a Hilton Diamond member and will continue to be. I refuse to ever give a single Marriot location a penny of my money. This is absolutely ridiculous. Just booked with the Holiday Inn in Rockingham which has a 30 mile rule for the same reason. But, this hotel is run with common sense and they could look at my situation and make an exception. BTW, when I called Marriott’s customer service they said that this hotel never should have done this and apologized.
My stay was ok until I was charged for a cancellation fee. I went to check into my room and found out my reservation was canceled because the card didn’t process on file. Keep in mind while I’m checking in I overhear someone else with the same problem. But anyways I was asked to rebook my stay and that my first reservation would be treated as a non-cancellation so I did. Overnight I was charged $143, so I called the receptionist and she said she can only see my actual charge for the stay which was $190(stay plus hold). But I was asked to show her the additional charge & she would look into it. After showing her she said she think it would fall off and that if it processed to call and speak with the general manager and she could handle it. The charge processed and I called Marriott Bonvoy customer service because I was told the manager was out of town. I was also told by them it was treated as a non-cancellation and she would open a case for the refund. Today I was finally able to speak with general manager who first of all is RUDE. & is not willing to give me a refund. It’s completely unfair and pure greed. After explaining to her I locked my card for a few hours on Friday after thinking I misplaced it she says I should never lock my card and that they held a room for me. Keep in mind guys I STAYED at the hotel and have a completely seperate charge for my actual stay. So your trying to keep my money for the stay and for the cancellation, when I never called and canceled a thing. I don’t appreciate the level of customer service as a business owner myself I would never double charge a customer for a no show error when they actually show. I also don’t appreciate the smart remarks how do you tell another grown adult not to lock their card at anytime because they knew they were booking a room. You’re not in charge of my finances I would hope you lock your card too if you misplace it. But to not want to refund me for a cancellation is insane.The fact of the matter is I STAYED at your hotel & paid for my stay. If I had really never checked in I would not be complaining I’m very aware of company policies but no where does it state if the card declines your stay is canceled. The couple in front of me was able to update their card so why wasn’t I ? If I was going to be charged for cancellation regardless of staying or leaving I would’ve took my business somewhere else. It really upsets me that a company so big can be so greedy. I don’t feel like I was asking for a lot at all I was wanted to be treated fairly. You received my $172 for the stay so why hold onto to an additional $143 for a systematic cancellation. I will never book here again. I never displayed the same level of rudeness I received after hearing she didn’t want to give me my money back. I can’t believe Marriott is being represented by such general manager, unfair, un-longical, rude, unethical, and most importantly greedy. I will keep escalating my complaint until it’s handled fairly.
This was the absolute WORST hotel experienced in my entire life. First of all there’s hardly any decent hotels in the area so for this one to have RACIST, TERRIBLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE is not acceptable AT ALL and WILL NOT BE TOLERATED on my end. Idk what type of scam this manager is trying to run at this location but the MANAGER NAME DEBBIE NEEDS TO BE FIRED AND REMOVED FROM THIS location due to trying to take advantage of customers card payments. I simply booked a room here because I was in town for that day and night with my family in which I was already charged for, however upon staying there I noticed ANOTHER PAYMENT WAS CHARGED TO MY CARD for the room as well in which I was only staying one night. I immediately notified the front desk about the issue in which they acted as if they didn’t have ANY CLUE on why I was charged again. I was told I would have to speak to a manager which would be in the following days I waited to do so. Upon speaking with THE ***** Debbie she immediately started replying to me aggressively abusing her power as a manager basically telling me she canceled my original reservation and charged me for cancelling it IN WHICH IT SHOULDN'T HAVE EVER BEEN AUTHORIZED TO CANCEL because I actually scheduled in on the same day and stayed in the room THAT I PAID FOR ONCE AND SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR THIS AGAIN. I’ve never seen someone in a manager position that just does what they want to do with customers card payments and NOT even try to hear the customer out regarding the payment issue even when THEY WERE IN THE WRONG FOR CANCELING AND CHARGING ME TWICE. This is absolutely INSANE and I would NOT recommend anyone to book a hotel here at the ONLY FAIRFIELD INN in ROCKINGHAM NC as long as “DEBBIE THE MANAGER” is still actively managing this location. A COMPLETE FAILURE AND RIP OFF AS A BUSINESS. You will be better off sleeping in your car trust me.
Modern establishment with comfortable rooms and decent water pressure. Rooms were quiet and bed comfortable. Breakfast options seemed decent but they didn't have the waffle iron so opted to go somewhere else for breakfast.
A Group home that I managed was in a dire situation due to being without utilities. And because of state regulations we could not allow the residents to stay in their home. We attempted to secure rooms at this facility and were denied because our address was in a 30 mile radius. The lady at the desk said that she would contact her manager to make an exception and within 30 seconds we were told that there was no way that we could be accommodated. This to me in unacceptable that even in an emergency situation there can be no accommodations. Even with individuals with special needs being displaced from their home. No one was willing to help us. I am utterly disgusted by this.
Please allow me to share my negative review of the place. As a Marriott member I have expectations that are mainly lived up to at the various Marriott brands I have to visit, however, there is the exception and this place is that HUGE exception. Let me start by saying on two occasions I have had my reservation's canceled by the staff as I am en route to the area. The staff was overly rude, by calling me and yelling at me making demands that I pay the first night stay before arrival (as I am traveling from Virginia). Demanding that I show them proof of my government ID, again as I am traveling. Hanging up on me and then calling me back to only become belligerent, again. Dealing with this location staff was so frustrating and upsetting. I could not help but feel like it was very “profiling” in nature. No apology was ever offered and no effort to show I was appreciated as a customer was or has ever been extended. I would not encourage this location, which is a possible shame as it may be a more suitable location for the area. However, their attitudes certainly are representative to the lack of professionalism, customer service and ability to conduct themselves in any intelligent capacity.
I have stayed on and off at this hotel for the past two years (months at a time). I have enjoyed my stay here every time. The staff is fantastic and always have gone above and beyond. Chantel is a staff member to appreciate. From the warm welcome, to checkout is always a pleasure. They do their best to keep everything up to date. They place decorations for the seasons. Breakfast is great for a hotel. Nothing special to write home but gets the job done. I wish I could name everyone on here. The welcomes back make it just a little nicer when being away from home for so long. If I have to stay in Rockingham I would stay here.
