Second visit, was hoping for a better experience. Glass shower door and wall were obviously not cleaned. Details like this reflect on what else may have not been properly attended to. TVs are unusually small considering ; not sure what’s up with that. **If cold air is as important to you as it is us … Worst AC here Would not cool well in both visits. I think they govern the temps. We set for 65 and it never got below 73. Very uncomfortable for us while sleeping. We won’t be back. I flushed 19k points on this one. Not very happy. Otherwise rooms are up to date and nice.
Remodeled, modern, very clean Fairfield; bathrooms have walk-in large showers (no grab bars yet when we stayed). Bed was at a good height (not too high). King Room is small, but offers microwave and refrigerator which was on and operating when we arrived. Checked in early and room was ready. Staff was helpful, price was excellent for value; breakfast was usual Marriott breakfast; coffee & tea available 24/7 (nice ). Location was next to Beaver Valley Mall and a good Italian Restaurant.
To the person who stayed in this room before us, you need to stay in a kennel next time because you're a filthy animal. Hair and urine all over the bathroom, toothpaste on the faucet and mirror. Gross. To the housekeeping crew, please just quit. You obviously don't care about your job and your customer's experience. Useless.
We have stayed at this hotel several times. Customer service has steadily went down. This time was the worst and will be our LAST!!! We stayed 4 night with no service!! Had to go downstairs every night for towels after we repeatedly asked for at least towel service. We even had to go get toilet paper!! Garbage cans all overflowing when we left. We stacked all dirty towels in the hall because we had no place to put them! People that worked there were rude and could care less if we were helped! Also some were on the argumentative side! We have stayed at lots of Marriott’s properties with great service however Fairfield Inn in Monaca PA we will NOT stay there again!!!
Avoid at all costs!!! This hotel is by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had in the states or abroad... I knew trouble was brewing when I first arrived. There was a really odd smell in the foyer. I looked past that and proceeded to check-in. Upon check-in, it felt like I was bothering the staff, by simply getting room keys.... The front staff were disengaged and did not greet you upon arrival. When I got to my room, the door was open. As I started to unpack and get settled in, it was clear little to no cleaning has been done in thr bathroom. Just as well, I had brought my own Lysol wipes. The next day, I expected room service to clean the room and refresh replace the used towels in the bathroom. No such luck, I was out all day and housekeeping did not come. At this point I had to put in a request for new towels. As no one answered the phones for the front desk, used the app, to request new towels. I had to wait over an hour for clean towels to be brought up to the room. The following day, I asked for housekeeping on the room. The request was acknowledged, so I was thinking to myself great "the used towels that were on the floor would be taken away.... No such luck, the towels were still on the floor even though the room had a visit from housekeeping. To add insult to injury the room door was not closed behind housekeeping when they left. Upon checking out l, was not asked how my stay was. Again it felt like I was a bother to the front desk staff. Moral of the story, is that I should have booked with Hilton across the street. Should I return to Pittsburgh again, I will most definitely be staying with Hilton. Corporate sent out a ln email a day or so after my trip. I told them all the issues with I'd encountered while staying at this hotel. I was informed that it was unacceptable. I did as k them to make it right, as I would liken to give Marriott another chance. I haven't heard anything since, I sent that email. This locations is in complete shambles. How they still have their flag to be called a Marriot is perplexing, especially since other people have had an issue. Well I guess there have been very many lessons learned.
Monique at the front desk was very helpful! Overall thought the hotel was nice. Small TV, but the microwave and frig were pluses. Breakfast was significantly nicer than expected, including waffles, bacon, and eggs the Saturday morning we were there. One of us has bad allergies, but the hotel does not allow pets, which was a relief. However, there were still bad issues breathing overnight in bed, so *perhaps* the blanket was not freshly washed, which can be an issue for someone with bad dust allergies. Other than this, nice hotel and good value.
If this is helpful, lemme know!||Date= July 2023|Name/location=Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, Monaca PA||Room=201 King Executive Room (1 week stay) ||Lazy review|Pros- are good location, newer hotel, updated exercise equipment, breakfast, a couple nice people here |Cons-are no air in exercise room, rude front desk (see below), pool smells, 1 of 2 breakfast girls is MIA and rude to guests (see below)|Improvements- are need better customer service at this location. Bigger fridge. More storage.||Comments= Most (not all) staff is rude, little to no storage space (tiny closet, 2 small drawers, tiniest fridge) Some things were 1 star and some 5… so we’ll go with the 3. ||Staff=C: Hit and miss, see stories below|Housekeeping= Hit and miss again. We asked for housekeeping and was agreed every other day for towels, trash and vacuum. We got it around every 3rd only after complaining but the housekeeper we met was nice. ||Elevator= Only one right behind the front Desk. ||||came with|Fridge= Tiniest fridge I’ve ever seen, no freezer (see pic). |Wi-Fi= POOR- 4.5D/L Mbps 0.4U/L Mbps||Room was ||Cleanliness- |Tv- 2 small TVs (maybe 27 inch)|Bed= Comfortable|Pillows= Variety in firmness|Heating and air= Worked well, needed the constant fan option for the traffic noise. |Shower/bath= Good size, no tub, wall mounted soaps. Shower head is fix, no adjustments on the shower head. |||Well lite= Property is well lite but the room is pretty dark after sunset… Room needs more lights. |Laundry= Yes. Machines takes CC. Costs something dumb like $3.79 each. (Forgot to get that pic) ||Breakfast= Breakfast for the most part is good. Bacon everyday with cling wrapped breads, waffle maker, a fruit (sometimes bananas), juice (cranberry was out the entire week we stayed). ||PROBLEM: One of the girls was very nice and kept things stocked (the skinny one), the other one you hardly ever saw. Items would run out and one morning didn’t see her and went to the front desk and asked if anyone was working the breakfast… she had to go in the back to get her to come out to do her job. ||Interaction I watched (same race and gender as the staff): |Guest: We don’t have any syrup out (occurred often) |Staff: (rudely) I’ll get to it; you are just going to have to wait!|Guest: I don’t mind waiting, I’ve been waiting. I was just letting you know.|(LOL! Good for her! I almost clapped!)|Restaurant= None on site but hotel is very close to several locations. I recommend Bowser’s down the hill (walking distance) for the wings or smoked beef dogs. There is also a pizza place that I’ve never tried down there as well. |Business Center= Yes, by the front door. I didn’t use it. Probably not the best spot for a business center but they do have one. ||View= (see pic) We enjoyed watching the busy intersection. We kept the fan running, so it muffled the traffic noise but if you don’t have it running, you can hear the vehicles with loud exhausts. ||Pool= Yes, but was out of service every time we checked. Probably a good thing as it smelled and looked pretty bad (see pic of the clouded water). Kinda smelled like bad foot odor. At least they were trying to correct this (of many) issue. |Hot tub= none|||Fitness room.= NO AIR, so better get there early, because later in the day the fitness room turns into a sauna. They did get all new equipment during our stay, now maybe fix the air conditioning. 1 towel and no cups in here. ||Location= Good location, albeit a bit complicated to get to it… Location even confused Google as it will NOT take you to the entrance (unless my correction suggested was updated). You have to enter further down from the hotel, at the Re/max realtor (you will see the Fairfield hotel sign here too). Then drive up the neglected parking lot to get to the hotel. |#10.Price was- $114 plus taxes per night with Hotels dot com. ||Parking-free||| Hints- Go to the Re/max realtor 1476 Old Brodhead Rd, Monaca, PA 15061 for your Google maps b/c Google will get you lost. From here, drive up the hill to the hotel. ||Issues= We asked to have 4 towels instead of the 3 because it was us and our 2 kids and no need to have to share towels. After a couple times of still only getting 3, the unfriendly ‘gentleman’ at the front desk said the rule is you get 3 so the rest of the hotel can have towels (really? So, my extra towel is going to short the entire hotel). He said if you want an extra, you will have to come to the front desk and ask for it ‘per the general manager’. ||Summery- I think management needs to change here… any manager who would instruct staff that guests must go to the front desk for a towel everyday obviously does not have a guest services mentality and the staff will always be a reflection of that. I’m going to try to avoid this place on future stays. |
The property is close to a major interstate. It can be a bit confusing trying to figure out how to get to the hotel parking lot since you must turn into the parking lot of nearby businesses and drive through those to reach the hotel. There are several restaurants and shopping opportunities conveniently located near the hotel.||Check-in was a miserable experience. I used the mobile app to check in on the morning of arrival. I am not sure what the glitch was, but I had to go through the entire check-in process upon arrival. There is one elevator, and the wait time was dependent upon how busy things were. The common areas are spacious but certainly not well-maintained. There was a spill in the elevator and several of the common area garbage cans were overflowing.||The first room I was assigned was recently updated. There were ongoing renovations, something I wish I would have known at check-in. This made things a bit noisy and construction dust was abundant. Despite being recently renovated, the room was not ready for occupancy. It may have been cleaned but the staff did an extremely poor job. Discrepancies ranged from debris on the floor to spills on the side of the garbage can.||I asked the front desk staff for a different room and was told I would have to wait as no other rooms were ready. I was waiting for a room as were a few others trying to check in. I was eventually assigned another room after one of the front desk staff told me they personally check it. When I checked the room, I discovered the microwave needed to be cleaned and the surfaces needed dusting (I could write my name).||I stayed four nights. During the entire stay, it just seemed like there was no one in charge and certainly no one directing the hotel operations. Often, the housekeeping staff was congregating at the front desk socializing with other staff members. Several of the housekeeping staff members I encountered were dressed in street clothes with no indication they were hotel employees. This was a bit uncomfortable from a security perspective.||I likely would not stay at this property ever again. While this hotel was located close to where I needed to be, I would rather drive the extra 10-15 miles and stay at a different Marriott.|
