We stopped by for some iced tea and sandwiches. Sandwiches were simple but good. And the tea had great flavor for being unsweetened. Played some board games while we waited. Cute and cozy place.
This is a super unique spot. The baristas are always so kind and helpful. The chicken pesto sandwich is my absolute favorite thing to order! I am moving out of town soon and will really miss this coffee shop.
I fell in love with this place when I lived in Norfolk, this was my go to happy coffee place. Even loved it more as I remember my first date here. Just very cozy with nooks where you can sit and chat, or sit to the side and play board games with friends. It’s a transformed old house with benches outside and the charm of creaky steps to the upper floor and open upstairs landing that you can imagine used to be a living room with a fireplace, a dining room with windows. Coffee and beverage selections are varied including tea and sandwiches. Service is friendly, you get discount when you pay cash.
Nice place
I won't say it's my favorite but I like it.
I like the place, it's pretty cool and cozy, amazing staff.
I don't like their vegan option moka. Horrible taste I couldn't finish it. I don't like the smell of the place which is a mixture between coffee (that I love the smell of) and humidity (which I hate).
I will go back for sure but order a different drink and drink it outside
Comfortable, artsy cafe with lots of wonderful drink options and food at an affordable price. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside, and everything feels very cozy (the cafe is in an old house). Lots of people come to study, read, or just hang out, but it's not too noisy, and everyone is very friendly. It's also a great place to look at local events or scope out local businesses, since their advertisements are pinned out front/throughout the cafe. This is a lovely place to stop by while exploring Ghent!
Very relaxed and friendly, inviting atmosphere. (Feels like a home rather than a shop).
The coffee smelt amazing the second I walked in, and is the best tasting I’ve had throughout my holiday in the USA.
I only had chips and humous, so can’t comment on the cooked food - but the chips tasted great and there was plenty of dip.
Highly recommended.
Fair Grounds coffee review.
The place is definitely cozy, relaxing atmosphere, on the second floor which makes it even cozier! But there are some things I’ve noticed, for example,
The dirty dishes bin is tucked on a lower shelf, I’d have to pull it out, and then place dishes inside…inconvenient.
Even though they have a wide syrup selection, the flavors are artificial, so you’re basically putting chemicals in your body,
The latte is ok, not anything to get excited about, nor the pastries, for they’re also not made in house or naturally.
But there is history to this place, which is why it’s popular.
If there’s anything I would change, I’d like them to make some natural in house syrups, or switch to a natural syrup brand like 1886, and do research and purchase natural pastries to sell to customers.
Disappointingly I will not be returning to Fair Grounds.
I love fair grounds! I like most of the people who work there! Today the person who made my smoothie was really weird about it though, I hadn’t seen her before, short purple hair, spikey eyeliner. She just kept yelling about it being a flesh smoothie, “it looks like human flesh”, and literally describing it like it was a horror movie. This was the whole time she was making it, and even after she gave it to me. You know people can hear you, right? Maybe it was because I asked for cream in it, she responded negatively to that in the first place, gaped at her coworker like I’d asked for shrimp eggs. Maybe try to be less weird about people’s food though, I’d appreciate it at least. :/

They have good coffee, good tea, and good waffle based foods (I had one with goat cheese, herbs, pistachios, and honey that was really good). The coolest thing, however, is the overall vibe. They are in an old house, have a little used bookstore inco

The atmosphere is 100% dedicated to the love and lives of cats. Proceeds from paid visits help them keep cats cage free and acclimate to shared spaces with other cats and humans while they wait to be adopted. There is a complimentary "cafe" with an
