Kent Park is one of my go to places for peace and quiet. It’s a beautiful place to get away and enjoy nature. I love to bring my camera and just set it up around sunset facing the smooth lake with the reflection of the colorful sky. Great place for kids and families. A short drive from town and a large selection of places to choose from, including the camp ground. It’s a must see for yourself.
Great campground with lots of space per site. Lots of hills as well. Big lake with a great walking path around it. Currently no bath house.
Great place to take your dog swimming! There’s a small beach by the boating ramp that’s perfect for dogs to play and go for a swim.
I recommend that everyone go breathe in the Kent Park air! Such a lovely place with beautiful natural sound. In the summertime, you can enjoy listening to the birds and people laughing and enjoying the peaceful waters.
Beautiful place to stay. Unseasonably warm weather, who says you can't RV in November. Took pics on the road, then in the trees. Sometimes you have to put your phone down, and look up. You never know what you might be missing.
Beautiful area. Spaces for big rigs. Electric available only $20 a night for tents or big rigs. No sewer or water, it is available when you leave.
Been here camping 2 days now and have a beginning sense of the layout, trails etc. Good clean quiet place to camp and try to teach "younguns" how to fish. Lots of families, many with dogs. Road layout in the park is confusing at first but just takes a little driving around to learn the ropes. Camping layout for tents and trailers is fine. The lake is quite nice, with a walking or bicycle path all the way around and nicely landscaped. Interesting how they incorporated old rural bridges into the walking route. I will be back. One negative. It is hard to see the parking entrance while driving on US 6.
Kent Park is an all-season treasure. Multiple shelters, trails both paved and natural, and a years-long lake restoration project that has made it home to one of the nicest, cleanest, and most beautiful small lakes in Iowa. Abundant prairie restoration and native plantings make it a truly Iowan natural highlight. Also a quiet spot for swimming in clean, clear waters! Visit the conservation education center, too! Home to knowledgeable and passionate park staff, some delightful amphibian and reptile friends, and a great bird-spotting window. A truly great park.
So nice that we have this area set aside for wildlife and, in particular, for migratory waterfowl . The large aerie occupied by a nesting pair of bald eagles is a plus.
