Extended Stay America - Tacoma - South - Extended stay hotel in Tacoma - 2120 S 48th St, USA

My wife and I are traveling healthcare workers and we needed a place to stay between semi permanent living situations. We stayed at extended stay America - Tacoma - South and the experience was all in all what you would expect from a Hotel in this area. The bed was firm but fine and I slept good enough despite the emergency exit being tripped at 6am every morning. The shower, refrigerator and microwave worked. Good enough for me. The staff was friendly, approachable and were helpful with Lenin’s, plates, tableware etc. There was also coffee and snacks put out each morning in the lobby. The reason for the 2 stars is that my check out experience left me feeling misled, unheard, and defeated. When we checked in, we knew there was a possibility that we would check out early so we were sure to ask, “Will we be refunded for days not used when we check out? Because we will likely be checking out early” and the front desk staff member reassured us that we will be refunded a prorated amount for days not used. There was no mention of a re-established cost at check out due to early check out that left me with a $90+ bill when I was expecting a $200+ refund!! I tried to plead my case with the front desk staff including the hotel manager but all they were worried about was getting their money and blew off my completely reasonable request. Extended Stay America Tacoma South. It is not too late to right this wrong! You hit the mark in most areas but withholding early check out policies and letting your customers pay hidden fees is NOT OK. My name is Anthony. Please let me know when I can call for my refund.

* They’ve been very helpful and the ADA room is big enough for my husband’s electric wheelchair to maneuver. * The staff and residents are friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice, clean, spacious and comfortable. * They give advanced notice of required maintenance and safety appointments. Along with helpful instructions. * I would appreciate a rack in the laundry room. * ( Please think of other people’s handicaps! ) Not everyone uses the handicap spaces properly: blocking those that require more space for ramps or a service dog. *For the independent wheelchair bound: there’s no way out of the secure rear parking area. Unless someone is coming in the gate.

Beware of trusting the website. The "amenities" listed for our Queen ADA room included coffeemaker and hair dryer-neither are actually in the room. We had to check things out at the front desk. Not terribly convenient when you're handicapped. Be aware, the kitchenette in ADA rooms is quite small compared to other rooms, ostensibly to make room for wheelchairs, although it seemed they could have figured out a way to give us some counter space. There was essentially none. Refrigerator was full size, microwave was small, and there's a stovetop. If you want dishes, silverware or pots/pans they need to be checked out at the front desk. Breakfast was laughable-a nutrigrain bar or a packet of instant oatmeal, or a small wrapped muffin. No fruit. And there's a limit of TWO items PER ROOM, so one small item per person. Not exactly breakfast. The room was clean, mattress a bit uncomfortable, but the price was far less than competing hotels, so we ignored the inconveniences in favor of saving our money for eating out. Cars are parked behind a big iron gate, which wasn't very convenient, but did make us feel safer.

I had book the Extended Stay for 6 days. After the first night I decided I need to change hotels. However, I had to notify them by 11:00 am the next morning which meant I had to stay 2 nights. When I arrived, I was told my room had issues with the ac but they thought they had it fixed, if I had issues to let them know and the would look at it. I left early the next morning and arrived back around 7pm to find the ac not working. I requested another room which they accommodated, but was not happy about the change. Let me tell you, room 321 was the worst room ever! The carpet was badly stained, as well as the curtain. I certainly hope the stain in the curtain was chocolate and not a bloody hand print. I was moved to room 311 which was totally different. Had laminate flooring nice bedding and well lit. Room 321 had a sheet and a blanket for bedding. I’m not sure why they would ever rent a room like this to anyone, especially when they brag about the rooms 10 point inspections. Also, don’t expect the dishes to be in your room, you have to request them. Bring your own ice because they don’t have an ice machine. You are provided with 2 ice trays, but who wants to wait 2 hours for ice to freeze. On a final note, their website says they have a grab and go breakfast. This consist of coffee. Highly doubt I ever stay at any of the establishments again. Do better Extended Stay!

Positive: I like the location being right across the street form the tacoma mall which held no interest to me really but just felt better knowing I'm in an area where there is "life" people, activities etc. I'm not a rural or country motel kind of guest. Negative: I didn't like that I had to ask the front desk for all cooking utensils needed, usually "extended stay" type hotels already have that kind of stuff for you in the room. I didn't like the outdated feel/look/function of the room & ALL bathrooms need fans!

My wife and I were here about 2 months while we looked for and bought a house. The room was adequate for our needs and was also pet friendly for our 2 dogs. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The laundry facilities were very convenient. Any problems with the room was dealt with in a timely manner. We met some very nice people here as well. One even cooked us a meal when my wife was ill for a few days.

Convenient location, gated parking. Great customer service. Fresh linen. Have everything you need to feel at home away from home. They have options for longterm stay, less than one week will be considered a nightly stay and charged at that price point.

Tiffany was awesome with our check in and booking was very easy. Staff was very accommodating. Great place to stay when you can't be home.good places close to shop and eat. Easy freeway access. You can see Mt Rainier from here. Gated parking . Coffee bar and breakfast bar included in stay.
