Extended Stay America - Kansas City - Overland Park - Metcalf Ave - Extended stay hotel in Overland Park - 7201 W 106th St, USA

The front desk workers are extremely loud, especially the females. I was unlucky enough to have a room close to the lobby & it made the entire stay miserable. I was woken up countless times by the front desk employees screaming, laughing, etc. The breakfast is not great. The gym is tiny. When I arrived with a dog after viewing online that pets were allowed, I was told that dogs aren’t allowed at that hotel & to go board my pet instead. The hotel is extremely outdated & not a very peaceful place to stay.

Four stars for staff. Henry and David at Extended Stay Overland Park Kansas along with the rest of the front desk staff were helpful and friendly. My requests for kitchen utensils, extra towels and bedding were all provided when I requested them. Hotel cleaning staff said hello or good morning when I saw them in the halls. So, I have zero complaints about the staff. However, my room wasn’t very clean. I pretty much wiped down all surfaces and the parquet floor was very dirty. I did not walk around barefoot. Bedding and towels were clean and smelled freshly laundered. I inspected the bed and mattress and pillows and found no bedbugs. However, mattress and pillows were uncomfortable. Towels were small and thin, but clean. I do wonder what corporate policy is on how much time staff is given to clean rooms? Maybe housekeeping would benefit from extra time given to complete their tasks? In addition, well paid staff will be more motivated. The hotel itself is older and could use some remodeling, but one must remember the price is very inexpensive compared to other places in the area. I did do a comparison. In conclusion, staff at this hotel are wonderful and welcoming!! They were friendly and upbeat and so helpful. The rooms could be cleaner. The older furniture and fixtures are fine because the rates are pretty inexpensive. This is an extended stay for a few days or longer. At the time of our stay a 1 bedroom suite/1 king bed, sofa sleeper was $77 per night.

Meant to post this right away, but I would steer clear of this hotel. Very dirty and dark in the rooms. Did not see house keeping once the whole time. No breakfast, just packed muffins in plastic. Uncomfortable beds that sink in the center. Front doors lock after 11 and no way to get back in without a key because there is not someone at the front desk all hours!!! Would give this place a 0/10 if I could.

My husband and I traveled in from Texas for his Father's homegoing and although I had a bit of anxiety as I read some of the reviews, we received the absolute best service! Our initial room's heater wasn't working to the standards of which we liked and upon going downstairs to inform Summer, she immediately accommodated us without complaint by moving us to a different room. Henry greeted us upon check-in and was extremely personable and pleasant. Even mentioned that his mother grew up not far from where we reside. Thank you for making a difficult journey a bit smoother by the professionalism each of you exhibited.

This was one of worst vacation experiences for us. Enter the hotel and staff has no clue if they are in hospitality business or prison in-charge, were in a bad mood unsure if they were overworked by the ongoing staff shortage.||The room itself was supposedly a King bed Suite. It had a really bad murky smell which was barely bearable. The smell never really left no matter how much air freshener you used. The sheets on the bed and the pillows smelled as if they never went through laundry throughout their entire lifetime. Pillows were deformed and extremely uncomfortable and we all woke up the next day with a strained neck muscles. There was a sofa bed as well however no pillows or sheets for it and the mattress was badly stained and sofa had lots of hair as if a pet had rolled in their before we checked in. The room itself wasn't clean either with visible dust and old candies lying on the floor. It was pretty disgusting overall.||Regarding the amenities, no coffee machine, the dishwasher had dirty utensils in it laying at the bottom, and it was pretty much stained with coffee, why install a dishwasher in room if it is just going to be unusable and disgusting. The microwave never really heated anything up as half of the buttons on it didn't really work. No room service and when I needed pillows and sheets for that sofa bed for my daughter, the front desk person said in an extremely rude tone that I should come down and pick up whatever is needed ( like as if it's not their job to adequately stock room for 3 people ?) There was no iron. The hair dryer was full of dust, appeared disgusting and yes you guessed it, didn't work. I did have to clean up a dead insect from the sofa bed as well prior to putting sheets on it.||Now comes the nice part, not much traffic noise in the room, heating worked well, most of the bathroom was clean, ( sink was dirty), breakfast in am as promised and free parking.||Overall, I would recommend folks to probably stay away from this place if you don't wanna spoil your vacation. It's NOT worth the price though okay place if you just want to take a nap for couple of hours.||See attached pictures as well

This was a pretty poor hotel experience. The first room we were sent to the sink in the bathroom had not been cleaned at all, they moved us to a new one which had no toilet paper. The room had an odd smell, wasn’t well cleaned with dust in the corners and hair in the shower. Linens were pretty worn and had some stains, towels were tiny and thin. Mattress was okay but the pillows were lumpy and terrible! Walls are thin and you can hear lots of noise. The rooms have kitchenettes but zero dishes, dish soap, paper towels, dishwasher tabs, not even utensils! So unless you plan on packing your kitchen that really does nothing. Front desk staff was helpful and accommodating, that was the only positive! We have stayed in many Comfort Inns and Air BnBs for this same price range with much better cleanliness and accommodations!! Would not recommend this one.

I was a WEEKLY visitor here. TRUST ME JUST AVOID!!! Things have gone down hill!!!! Carpets in most rooms are stained, some rooms smell like mildew, and the price is now stupid jacked up per night. Was $60-70 over $100 or more at times. After months of NOT paying any deposits I’m suddenly told I am required to pay one, denied the option to pay a cash deposit “they don’t take cash”, and told I will pay $100 card deposit in order to stay. I was informed that this is the employees “cheating the system that requires them to obtain a deposit and was not allowed” as a loyal customer and small business owner staying solely for the purposes of sleep with months worth of “rental history” and ZERO incidents (damage etc) this is ridiculous. The appropriate response would have been to waive the deposit, inform me of the policy/ misuse of, and why it won’t be waived in the future. No problem understanding here. But arguing and threatening to call the cops for asking it be honored only to take my money and allow me to stay is not productive. Save yourself some energy and pick another hotel.

Had to call corporate because, due to no error on their part, we booked at the wrong location. They fixed it for us quickly and politely. The staff was nice. The room itself was pretty clean. And has lots of amenities. But our shower handle was broken. It's clearly got a repair in place, but it's not a permanent repair. It was hard to get the water going. It took almost 6 minutes for the water to get hot, and then it was really hard to get to a comfortable temperature because the handle is not properly working. One of our 4 towels had a stain on it that made me concerned, but we only needed 2 so I just put that one with the floor mat one. It looked like a stain, not like a fresh soil. There was a big tear in the fabric of the curtain. It wasn't noticable at first and is only on one layer. So if we had needed to block the light or something it still could. The bed was clean and covered. The floors were clean. The kitchen area was clean. I feel overall like this is a place where the staff works hard to try to repair and clean the space with limited tools or expense. We will stay here again, I'm sure. I understand why it's had some lower ratings but I think people need to be fair about their expectations. The room is affordable, has awesome amenities like a stove, full fridge, and microwave. It was clean. It served the purpose.
