Even Hotel Shenandoah - the Woodlands, an IHG Hotel - Hotel in Shenandoah - 18850 David Memorial Dr, USA

After having a horrendous experience with a Holiday Inn Express in downtown Houston, we were in search of a new hotel to finish out our trip. The Even hotel was an excellent alternative. The front desk staff was welcoming and helpful, the hotel seemed very new and well maintained, the room was clean, and the beds were super comfortable. The room even included workout equipment such as a yoga mat, exercise ball, and bands. The only downside was that the hotel did not serve free breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays, but they had some yogurt and granola bars for purchase in the lobby and recommended the Black Bear cafe just a couple of minutes down the street (which was great food at a fair price). Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

We have stayed at EVEN Hotel twice while on business in the Houston area and have had consistently good experiences. The rooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable, ensuring a restful stay. Ample parking is available, which is especially convenient since we usually tow a trailer and never had an issue finding a spot. The only minor inconvenience was during check-in when there was no one at the front desk, and we had to wait several minutes before being assisted. A sign, bell, or button to alert staff would be helpful. Despite this, we would definitely stay here again.

It is overall a nice hotel. It was clean. One out of three front desk staff was nice and helpful. We arrived on a Saturday. The restaurant and bar are closed on the weekends. Disappointed in that it meant no breakfast on Sunday. Cold ice water dispenser by front desk. It seemed nice and clean yet, minimal amenities. That may not matter to others. Inside the room was a yoga mat and large ball for some exercise. It was quiet throughout our stay of one night.

I came here a few weeks after a big storm in Texas however, most places had recovered but not this hotel. They had no food because of the storm but all the other restaurants that other colleagues were staying at had food in their establishments. The price for a Tropicana 12 oz orange juice was 8.00. Everything was overpriced. I asked for room service while I was out. I returned later that night and called the front desk because I thought no one came. They came and left a roll of toilet paper, 2 towels, and emptied the trash. They didn’t make the bed let alone change the sheets. There was a greasy hand print stain on the headboard when I arrived and the counters had water mark stains that made it look dirty. I spent an hour wiping and cleaning when I first got there. I wouldn’t recommend ofc my first impression

I recently stayed at the Even Hotel and had a pleasant experience overall. The hotel has a lovely ambiance, friendly staff, and a great central location. However, I believe that a few additional amenities could further enhance the guest experience. It would be beneficial if each room was equipped with a microwave for guests to conveniently heat up meals or snacks. Additionally, having a small chair in the room would provide guests with a comfortable seating option other than the bed. Lastly, having a commercial grade ice maker on each floor would make it more convenient for guests to access ice. The current ice maker is small and it takes an extended amount of time to even fill up the ice bucket. These minor additions would definitely elevate the guest experience. I look forward to seeing these improvements in the future.

No one is EVER at the front desk. I stayed for 4 or 5 days at the beginning of July. Even when I was checking in the desk guy was nowhere to be found. I wandered every floor and called the front desk from my cell phone multiple times. After 10 min or so a man came around a hidden corner. It was a Harry Potter move for sure. Also, why is every linen ripped to shreds? Towels, sheets, pillowcases, EVERY ITEM! The second day I asked for new pillowcases and towels and they were still ripped! Isn't that a hazard? In the end it's a good location, good price for the area, and my AC worked like a charm. Those things matter most in Houston-ish areas so it was a decent stay.

Very disappointed with the customer service and overall operations of this particular location, I stayed at Even in Colorado and other IHG brands and never had real issues. The Woodlands location is not properly managed (probably since it is a franchise and not a corporate location), from the front desk to housekeeping and room availability. There was an issue with the room type I booked, and even though it was rectified, the hotel did not have any suites to offer even when it's available to book on various websites. I do understand things like that happen, but if I call the front desk from the hotel phone 4 times with no answer, then I call another 3 times from my mobile phone to get someone to pick up the phone then there's a problem. Even more when I have to walk all the way down to the front desk and find the staff member sitting on the side watching movies on his phone. Service recovery is mediocre at best, and I wasn't after the 15000 points (equivalent to $27), all I wanted is the room I booked and someone to answer the phone when needed. Also, as other reviews mentioned, housekeeping is not consistent. It seems like no one is following up and checking if things are being done properly, I had to talk to the front desk when leaving in the morning to make sure the room gets clean and I get fresh towels. Apart from that the hotel is mostly clean, looks new, spacious nice showers, comfortable beds, plush pillows. Location is not too bad too, not very walkable to restaurants and stores however within 5 minutes drive.

When we arrived it took 30 minutes for someone to acknowledge us, they told us that breakfast services are not available due to understaffing, we came to the pool to try and relax and it was not clean, leaves, trash and clump of hair and unattended children at the pool. As a Diamond elite member I won’t be returning here. On the positive side our room is nice.
