My son enjoyed the Fun with Flight class that was offered through the Town of Cary. They built catapults, airplanes, and other things. It was engaging. I will definitely consider signing him up for another class with Engineering for Kids.
STOP THINKING AND BOOK!! I threw a party for my 8yo nanny kid. She wanted a leggo themed party and we hired Issac and his team to come in. We made candy catapults and it was literally a huge hit, every kid was engaged and entertained. Every kid left the party talking about how awesome it was. All the parents were involved as well. Not to mention Issac is a great educator and a delight to be around. He made sure every kid could get caught up if they didn't know the previous step. So just book now and thank me later!
Great program! The instructor, Julia was amazing!! She was kind and helpful to my daughter during the program. Julia always greeted the children with a smile. My daughter loved going to the class.
My kids love the camp. We took one week out of the world& Robots mission to Mars Session. They enjoyed launching rockets and competitions among different groups. The thing I do not like is that kids sit on the floor eating snacks and lunch and the floor seems not clean. Hopefully they could improve the facility a bit. It will be nicer if they could incorporate a bit out door play, instead of movie, in everyday schedule. Overall, kids enjoy it!
Unfortunately my son didn't share the same experience that others have listed. When we walked in it was just one room - like a rented office space, with make-shift folding tables and laptops. He said he was given very little direction/instruction (and it was a beginners class). He didn't have any robotics experience and said he basically fumbled his way through it trying to figure it out himself. The other half of the camp was supposed to be game coding but again he said not much instruction was given. Free time at the end was Minecraft but he said it wasn't working on his laptop so he was just sitting there when I picked him up. I asked why he didn't ask for help and he said the teacher was not very nice and he didn't feel comfortable asking. He said he was frustrated and bored all day so I didn't make him go back. We found a great facility down the street in Cary to finish out his week. I was happy that when I asked for a refund for the unattended days they said they would do that. The instructor was polite and nice to me. [EDIT 1/14/2020: Apparently they are under new management now. They refunded me for the single day that my son attended as well.]
My daughter had the best time building her platform game. Everything was taught so the kids could understand the concepts. Can't wait for the next class! Highly recommended
Kiddo enjoyed the many layers to the robotic construction and engineering, something he would be unable to receive at home! We would desire a bit more counselor initiative to "encourage" sharing as campers everyone are so excited about learning and doing but not so great at sharing tasks. I certainly recommend this program, but my kiddo will need some time away after a frustrating and unresolved tension with his camp partner.
Attending a party last year & my 7 year old insisted every day for 6 months that he have his party here. The kids LOVE building but not quite as much as battling! The staff was so kind and incredibly patient. We brought in pizza, cake, drinks and the staff was so flexible - let them stop and eat pizza because they were too hungry to wait til the end! We'll be back (at least until 2037 when my kid says he's opening his own franchise so he can stay all day and night)!
