This was a fun park to see wondering chickens and peacocks. There are also areas where we saw a pig, rabbit, sheep, turkeys, and goats. Fun place to walk around even though the new playground isn’t open yet (looks like it will be a really great playground when it’s finished).
I want to start with this: I will update this when the playground is finished.
Reason for 3 stars. As of October 25th, there is no play structure available for kids is under construction. Though I'm excited to see the finished structure.
Plus:
-This is a HUGE park with free range chickens, roosters, and peacocks.
-An animal feed barn with goats and sometimes cows,
-A private garden area,
- a fruit stand (10am to 2pm)
- An orchard
- Clean bathrooms
Con
- Nothing for kids to do (as of Oct. 25th) accept chasing chickens.
- The website advertised a community garden but upon arrival we found out it was private.
A nice big park in San Jose with spacious free parking. Lot of chickens/roosters roaming around, varieties of fruit trees and most of them from other countries. Didn't see any peacock or sheep. Play area is under construction. Best spot for picnic.
You can see animals like sheep, goats, peacocks, peahens, turkeys, pigs and rabbit here for free 🤑🤑🤑
Be careful when you are driving in the parking lots since there are peacocks and chickens walking around!
Maybe it's the time of the year but the farm feels a bit like a ghost town, only 2 sheep, 1 pig and the roaming chicken and peacock, not much else to see, lots of abandoned structures. The park is huge but had quite a few sketchy characters biking around and hanging out so it didn't feel particularly safe to let the kids roam around exploring.
Love the place .the play ground is still under construction.
Chickens and roosters all over the place . peacocks as well. Safe place of kids to play . plenty of parking spots .good for picnic.
A free community gem. Wish it were more in use but this is the coldest season after all. Grounds are cleaner than at any dog park. Great for walking my dog on a leash, and the grass looks so healthy and inviting for my dog to graze on. Nice to see BBQ and picnic areas worth reserving in future. It would have been the kind of place I would have loved to go to for an after school program on a weekly basis in community gardening or just lots of biology lessons starting in kindergarten from the life cycle of chickens to that of any fruit bearing tree. Then holy smokes, how about summer camp?! I think signage can be improved whether any walker can do a clean loop-around of so many feet or fractions of a mile on certain paths. Tad disappointing whether the construction fence area is off limits and/or a dead end.
Always enjoyed coming here. Either for a walk, party or get-together. It has many free range chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks strolling around which is quite unique for a city owned park. It has picnic/party areas which can be reserved for events, vegelution, community farm, large children’s play area, open green area, huge barns, pasture, animal area, international fruit orchard with wide variety of fruits from all over the world.
Picnic/party areas can be reserved online or by phone. Below are the available areas with reservation fee for any day. They are super busy with events during the weekends but mostly under booked during the weekdays.
Apple Orchard - $110
Citrus Grove - $135
Redwood Grove - $110
Rooster Row - $110
Rose Garden - $175
The Barnyard - Currently Closed
Note: No balloons are allowed inside the park if you’re planning to do your event here.
History: In 1950s, Emma Prusch donated to the people of San Jose to be preserved as an agricultural park.
Best time to visit is early in the mornings when all the animals are in groups and enjoying their freedom. Plenty of parking available and no entry fees. Being in the area this is my go to park.

After so much of rain in winter 2023, the lake is so beautiful and full of water. Everything is blooming, the trees, plants, even weeds. Many ducks, swans, as well as several ducklings. Few sections along the trail south of Hellyer Park are still flo
Lovely playground for older kids. Has a basketball court too. Lush green grass and a little hill one can roll down. Beautiful picnic benches beneath trees. A very peaceful and pleasant spot to hang out for families and friends overall.
The park hours of operation have changed. It is now open until 630 p.m. in the Summer! Also, a lot of new additions are complete. There is now a bathroom and other amenities that have been added to the park including a new campfire type area where p

This has become our go-to for mountain biking in the Bay Area. Good for hikes or biking and trails are for the most part are kids friendly. You just have to be careful is blind corners for safety when the bikers are out.
This park is our usual spot when we need a break from it all. Itâs such a chill place with a really nice lake, perfect for zoning out and relaxing. The park has this calm vibe thatâs just right for a quiet walk or just sitting back and enjoying t
This is a great park in Almaden. It's pretty shaded so good park to hit up when it's a hot day, even if there is not a water feature. Two separate playgrounds, one for the older and younger kids, although the one for the Littles is pretty big and h
Dropped in to CrossFit Silicon Valley twice during the week I was in the area. Coaches and members were welcoming and engaged. I recommend giving this gym a try. I will be back the next time I am in the area.
This place is such a gem! The food is incredible, atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The pepperoni flatbread with hot honey is really something else. And after a couple visits, honestly I could say the same about everything else we've tried. The owner
My son - 12yo junior hockey player, joined VSS 2 months ago with his team mateâs recommendation. The goal was to improve the strength and speed on the ice, and I already see his progress, that proves the efficiency and effectiveness of this program
