Elsa Ethiopian Kitchen - Featured Reviews (141)
We visited here due to the high reviews and were mildly disappointed. It was our first time trying Ethiopian food and we wanted to support a local business. The food was ok and I did enjoy the bread, injera, as well as shekla tibs, but nothing stood out. Nobody else was in the restaurant and we made it clear that we were new to the cuisine and even then there was no effort to recommend dishes or teach us anything. Furthermore, I'm sure this is a fine choice for anyone specifically looking for local Ethiopian cuisine, but otherwise I have a hard time recommending it.
Had dinner for 3 people. I'm happy to say that this place rocks, and it's a welcome addition to the neighborhood! For 3 people, we had 1 order of ground beef Sambusa appetizers, then 1 Veggie Combo Platter with 1 order of beef Derek Tibs (which are placed in the middle of the platter). Also got the tea. This was the perfect amount of food for 3 people, and was really quite affordable per person. We all walked away very full & satisfied! It was nice to see it reasonably busy on a Friday night and gaining traction despite only being open for 2 months. The music videos projected on the wall were also fun to watch. We will definitely come visit again!
Wonderful food and great service in a new, beautifully decorated restaurant. My friend and I shared Ayeb with Gomen ($10) and Gomen Besega ($19). A very reasonably priced meal for the quality of the food and large portions. Located close to the Woodley Park Metro.
Our brand new neighborhood Ethiopian Restaurant, Elsa’s, is amazing. Delicious food and great service, with a family friendly atmosphere.
I love the food at this family run restaurant in Woodley Park. A special spot that’s so much fun to get a group together to share.
Delicious food, great size for sharing with friends. The fish goulsah was amazing! Lovely staff.
I had lunch here with my husband and friends. While our Eritrean friend handled all the ordering, EVERYTHING was AMAZING! The flavors were fantastic and nothing was a miss. We ate Tibs, doro wat, while fish, vegetarian combo and lentils. We also drank a wonderful, aromatic tea with our dish that had us asking for more. We’d easily return.
We love Ethiopian food and have been all over town and this was great! There were new dishes to try, the server was friendly and the food was delicious.

I normally don't give a five star review, but I had a lot of fun here. It is on the second floor and there is no sign. We arrived at 4:30 pm on a Friday and people were already waiting. By opening time at 5pm, there were enough people to fill the pla
