Thank you to the Gardeners of El Paseo for being welcoming hosts. I visited today with Dr. Borre, Mr. Wilson and the students of NIU Environmental Studies. We loved the tour, the knowledge shared and the experience of working in your urban community garden.
Very sweet place sometimes full of nice people. It is quite lovely when all the flowers and plants are blooming. There are bee hives and a cage with little birds. There is a cement chess area, book take1-leave 1 and other board game cement structures. Little paths to walk. A small exercise area is there, too. An enclosed dog run.
A beautiful place where you can just exist and look at things. 10/10 will wander off again.

Beautifully maintained community garden. Lots of colors and vegetables. Murals painted by local artists. Bee hives being maintained by the local bee keeping club that are super nice and willing to satisfy your curiosity and answer all your questions. Creatively designed wooden benches. Such a quiet, peaceful, and meditative place. A group was playing the newly released edition of Warhammer 2020 outdoors on a foldable table they had brought. You can tell the community loves and takes care of this space.
Met the director Paula while a lot of the community was working in the gardens and planting flowers. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I can't wait to visit when everything is in bloom 🦋🐝
