Really neat exhibits and the docent basically gave me a personal tour. Really cool. I learned some things I had never heard before and also connected the dots from related areas (like Virginia City!). I would go back (and bring friends who also enjoy history). Suggested donation $2/person.
We enjoyed a wonderful stop at this little museum on the way home from Apple Hill. A friendly and accommodating docent gave a great tour. Each exhibit was very well put together, informative, and entertaining. I appreciated the spotlights on Native American, Black, and female people in El Dorado's early days, and I really enjoyed the grocery store display. No tickets required - see how much you enjoy the museum and make an appropriate donation on your way out. The outdoor areas felt cluttered and neglected - it would be nice if there was another property where excess items could be stored until they can be properly displayed and appreciated.
Our docent was very knowledgeable, explaining the exhibits. We learned much more about the history of the area.
This place was awesome. The curator was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of history behind the items they had in the museum. Highly recommend if you're curious about El Dorado county, or the Gold Rush.
The best experience ever. Love the miniature exhibits and displays of yesteryear memorabilia
Very interesting to see all the different things they have and learn local history! Loved the tour we got.
Much more than I remember from a few years back. Very well done exhibits and many publications on local points of interest and history.
Excellent museum. Many interesting displays of the history of the county. Excellent docent too. Well worth the visit.

I stayed in the Stone Pine room. Beautiful and lush garden surroundings complete with pond and rowboat! Every detail of the rooms was tended to, from the high thread count sheets to the 1-push button lighting/gas fireplace setup. The private soaking
The spam and kimchi sandwich was of the best sandwiches Iâve ever had! The menu is extremely creative and the flavour combinations worked so well. It was a really hefty sandwich packed with ingredients, and seemed to be put together with a lot of c
This is an awesome quaint little place with a neat little outdoor courtyard. I've always loved their locations in Sacramento and this one is just as good. They really do espresso drinks right. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Love how they
My husband proposed to me here in 2017. We come back every year and love the wine tasting and cheese. Of course we leave with at least 4 bottles of wine to bring home. Wonderful service and the wine is great!â¤ï¸
Have to give them a 5-star rating just for being open on a Sunday afternoon in late January. But besides that it had a great selection of items to see, plus they were making great brisket sandwiches, that were excellent. Glad that we stopped by and
Quaint, comfortable, definitely worth the visit. Scones and latte were good. The rosemary lemon scone was a little heavy on the rosemary. Will I go back, ABSOLUTELY! Take a walk around the old town while you're here.
In-N-Out is always a must visit fast food restaurant when visit California. This location had great service and clean dinning area. Highly recommended!
The tour of the mine itself was okay. We had followed a family in to the mine and it was hard to listen to our audio guide with another audio guide playing nearby. It would have been nice to have a transcript of the audio to read instead. Maybe there
