Economy Inn - Motel in Ithaca - 658 Elmira Rd, USA

Basic motel. Good rates. Pretty clean. Location is on Route 13 with easy access to Ithaca, about 2 miles. Decent bed. Some road noise from Route 13 if you don't run the air conditioner or use a white noise app. Cable TV with good selection of channels. Small shower. Microwave and small fridge. Near the state park, Buttermilk Falls, etc. Fruit for breakfast. Parking: you can park your car in front of your room.

If I could rate it lower I would my experience here wasn’t good . Yes the price at the time was okay for one night but everything was outdated . The cable had very few channels unless u wanted to pay extra for them. The wifi was terrible. You ether hole ur phone up to the window or sit outside the room to have any chance of a signal. My bed was hard so we’re the pillows. And I felt like my legs were getting bit up and the next morning there were bites all over them . Only good part was the decent ac .

Economy Inn is an unapologetic budget property, and I'm extremely satisfied with my stay. I paid less than half the going rate at the budget chains (Hampton Inn, Super 8), and the room was dated but clean (with daily room cleanings that are no longer offered at the chains!), and included a microwave and small fridge with freezer. The shower fixture and TV were modern, as was the AC/heater (which was admittedly, as some reviewers have noted, not intuitive to operate). The single-bed room was large enough to spread out in (I used half the room as without space), with a functional workspace. I did not ask about the WiFi; my data service inside the room was suboptimal but good enough for a few hours a day of Zoom meetings. The presence of lots of outlets was a nice surprise. Overall I am very happy with my experience.

We came in with relatively low expectations given the lower end rate and initial appearance of the motel. We were pleasantly surprised to find a very clean room and comfortable bed awaited us. The owner/manager was friendly and I would highly recommend this option if you are looking for an inexpensive option and don’t plan to spend much time in your room.

We love it . Great price to grab some shut eye and continue on our journey . Service was great, she even called me to let me know they were waiting our arrival . The way back machine for sure 🙂.

This place may seem a little off-the-grid, but I was very happy with my room. The bed was comfortable and had a lot of blankets. TV is no-longer an old CRT TV and is now a flat-screen with an available HDMI port. Bathroom was a little outdated, and the water pressure was minimal. Had a few pill-bugs I had to flush upon inspection, but outside of that, the room is cozy. Good WiFi signal during the day, seems to bunk out at night, though.

My brother and I stayed here for one night in June 2019. We are senior citizens and tourists. This was the cheapest room we could find near Ithaca, where hotel prices seem unnaturally high. We searched for a room on the internet, the day before arriving, so there was little advance planning. We paid about $107 including tax. The room was okay, the beds were okay, and the room contained microwave and refrigerator. The bathroom was super-small and cramped. The free breakfast was so minimal that it was humorous: one choice of cereal, a bananna, and your choice of 4 or 5 mini muffins or donuts, and regular coffee. Nothing else! No egg, no meat, no toast, no butter, no jelly, no juice, no decaf. It was by far the most minimal free breakfast I have ever encountered in all my travels. But admittedly, it was adequate to get started on the day, even if the food on display was conserved and carefully doled-out by the proprietor, right down to the last ounce of milk. The motel is an old-style motor court, very close to the 2-lane highway, so there is road noise if you don't use air conditioning in the room. This motel is adjacent to two other motels. 5-minute drive to Ithaca. This motel did the job. It worked for us.
