Econo Lodge - Hotel in Cañon City - 311 Royal Gorge Blvd, USA

The location is great and that is the best thing the lodge has going for it. The breakfast was almost all carbs and pre-packaged foods, so not at all appealing. In terms of the room, we stayed only one night and here is some feedback: 1. the towels were thin and seemed worn, 2. there was no extra blanket in the room and while the bedding was nice, a little lightweight. 3. There was nothing on the walls so barren with a few left-over screws. 4. the tub drain was horrible, took over 5 minutes to drain after completing a shower. 5. the bath light was wonky, there was a regular bulb where a heat lamp should have been. 6. the toiletries had no ingredients listed on them which is rather odd for a potential consumer to not know what is in them. 7. the rooms near the pool are extremely noisy and it seemed that there were "extra" people there from the note on the door the next morning (needs to be monitored more). Hope this honesty helps!

I booked through expedia. Arrived in room 101 within seconds of entering, the mold hit my nose and couldn't leave my nose for 1-2 hrs. We instantly left and made another reservation at a hotel down the street. Upon asking for my refund they stated that expedia would refund my booking. However they did not and refused to acknowledge any wrong doing. Needless to say we stopped using expedia and hope no one ever rests there head in that hotel. Major health concerns. Health department will be notified!

Positive: Nothing Negative: The hotel is run down the rooms as well there was blood on the bathroom toilet as well on the door an walls. Toilets didn't work properly had the toilet flood as soon as I checked in the hotel. Also tv was not working. Over a horrible experience. Negative: ""

What’s good: The location. What’s bad: Everything else. Front staff was surly when I checked in. Requested 1st floor room in reservation - they tried putting me on 2nd floor. No elevator. “1st floor reserved for pet owners and disabled”. Room assigned was filthy, a/c loud., bathroom fan noise equals to a plane taking off. Toaster broken at breakfast and they are stretching definition of a “continental breakfast.”

Nothing about this place made me feel safe. The front desk lady was carrying a very large knife on her. She also informed us that they had issues with people trying to get inside the hotel. No smoking hotel very distinctly smelled like pot, very obvious around front desk area.

Booked this place because it's walking distance from some cool spots in Canon City. It's certainly no frills, nothing terrible other than the chair in our room was gross. It had caked on grease or who knows what on it, so avoided it.

While the hotel is a little outdated, it is well maintained. Pros: Staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are clean, breakfast has waffles, no bedbugs in room, no smoking, great location right next to the Royal Gorge train station. Cons: The pillows on the bed are all small throw pillow sized, no comforter on the beds, and no fan in the bathroom.

Positive: Staff was nice and hotel was pet friendly. Negative: Room smelled musty and moldy, had to go to Walmart and buy Lysol and air freshener. Had to spray the room every couple of hours to be able to stand being in it. Also bought pillows as the ones provided were awful.
