Econo Lodge Junction City I-70 Near Fort Riley - Featured Reviews (43)
I was in Junction City for a long work day and booked the EconoLodge because it was close to the interstate, inexpensive, and had rooms available. I was expecting the usual tolerable but unspectacular EconoLodge experience. This place was a pleasant surprise. The manager, Tim, is conscientious and clearly takes pride in the property. Everything is clean and well-maintained. The room is basic but has everything you're likely to need. If you're slogging across Kansas on I-70 or have loved ones stationed at Fort Riley, this is a good place for night's stay.
The day we went to check in they had NO WATER. The guy behind the desk said he was leaving for about 30 minutes to go see if he could fix the issue. We had no idea what the issue was and this was on a Friday close to the end of the day so we figured issue wouldn't get fixed. We had four rooms booked for family as it was graduation weekend and most hotels were close to capacity, if not already sold out. We couldn't wait to see if the issue would be fixed because we had to go decorate for graduation so we booked another hotel. They are refusing to refund our money for the four rooms. We have been trying to get refund since May 12, 2024.
Randy, the hotel manager is a very personable young man and whenever I need him he comes right away and helps me with anything I need the rooms are most nice. My room is very nice bathrooms clean TV works window opens air conditioner works everything about this hotel is wonderful.
My wife and I arrived after 3pm check-in time to check- in to a prepaid room. We had medical appointments the next day. After a 3 hour trip, we had to use the restroom urgently. The front office was locked up. I rang the outside bell twice. There was some kind of ring camera there. No answer. There was also a telephone number posted I called twice without answer. I did leave a message. Although the office was closed, the rest of the hotel was wide open. I went to all floors looking for someone. At the top floor, there was a made up room with the door propted open but no one there. I was tempted to use that bathroom but did not want to possibly intrude on someone's room. I went back down to the office and still no one was there. Given I had no idea when we would get in, I booked a room at a different hotel. Just as I had completed the booking, a voice comes from the video door bell saying that someone would be there in either four minutes or forty minutes, I could not hear the voice cleary. Either way, I told the voice to "forget it" given I had another room by then. As we are trying to navigate to the new hotel, I received five calls in nine minutes from the same unknown number. I do not know for sure if this was this hotel, but the timing is suspicious. I eventually had to block the number so I could use my phone navigation to the new hotel, which was able to get us booked, registered, and to our room in 20 minutes for only $12 more a night than this place. Being that I prepaid, I might have to eat this one but Econolodge is going to hear about it. Also, the booking site saying I "checked in" is baloney. I tried to check-in to a room I had already paid for and was denied reasonable access for that which I paid.
Randy Wilson opened up rooms for us out of the goodness of his heart, letting us hole up while a serious storm passed over. Rooms were in good shape, and he was extremely accommodating with no guarantee of recompense.
