This was a pretty nice place. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was nice and spacious and clean. We stayed here for two nights. It was nice to have some muffins/bananas/coffee available before starting the day. Would definitely stay again.
Had the double queen room. Microwave/Fridge in room. Decent sized bathroom. Comfortable beds. We slept well considering the main road went right in front of the hotel. Parking was a little cramped but we made it work. Clean, comfy rooms with a good breakfast. Would definitely recommend. Also, 15 dollars for 1 dog, not a bad deal at all.
For the price (compared to everything else in town)it's a decent spot to sleep. Honestly it felt a little sketchy at first, and I saw a man staring into one of the windows when I arrived which was a bit weird. I noticed later that there are no screens on the windows, so if you leave your window cracked at night, someone can easily push it open and climb through. This is unfortunate since the AC didn't work, so there really wasn't a good way to get some fresh air. But, I took that risk when I decided to go with a budget friendly option I suppose. Even though the old and somewhat rundown feel of it made me uneasy at first, I got more comfortable after one night. The bed was actually pretty comfortable and shower was very nice and hot. So I'm sure they probably do their best with what they have. It was conveniently located very close to downtown and across from a gas station that's open 24 hours for late night snacks and drinks. It had a TV, coffee maker, desk, mini fridge, and hair dryer.
Traveling through Durango. It was late and we were ready for showers and sleep. First impression when checking in was the guy working the desk was super unfriendly. We couldn’t have felt anymore unwelcome. |If there had been any other hotels here with vacancies we would have left immediately. All that was left available was a room with 2 king beds one of which slats were broken at the end of the bed. |When we got up and went down for breakfast and all they had was coffee juice and waffles. For almost $200 for a room one would think friendly service unbroken furniture and a decent breakfast would be available. |We won’t be back
ROOM :
- Small, good for 1 person. (We were2).
- HVAC was an outdated system. There was instructions how to use. (See pics)
- The room smelt not pleasant. It smelt like wet shoes. Solution: We used our car's air refreshener. We did not ask for any help from the staff, due to a "Service" incident during our stay from the staff (See below).
- Bed was a spring bed. No bed topping. Thin duvet, and thin 4 pillows. The bed made noise when moved.
- There were a microwave and a small fridge (which we didn't use).
- Noises; we could hear cars driving from the main road even our room was inside. Squeak floor. Did not hear noises from next rooms and a room above.
- ***MOST IMPORTANT*** "CLEANLINESS" (see pics) We opened a bed duvet, We found long black hair 2spots and some black unidentified dust (pic#1). We were guys, we did not have long hair. We just wiped them out. Cleaned the bed ourselves. It was only one night.
We paid $150 for a ground floor room. We think it was not worth.
Will we recommend to others? No.
SERVICE :
There was no service, but we didn't mind. But there was an incident that we found it was not ok with the hotel.
**The staff was unhelpful, Unacceptable when needed**
- In front of the hotel there were 1 for an exit, one for an entrance. They were located separately.
- At the Entrance where the reception was, there are 2 lanes. One is for a temporary park for a check-in guest's car, and another lane for cars to enter the hotel.
- There were cars parked in both lane to check-in.
- We came back to the hotel. But we couldn't enter to the hotel. There was a car blocking a lane. Behind our car was the busy main road which we could not safely back into.
- We waited for 10minutes.
- We went inside lobby, asked anyone who owns the car to move so we could enter.
- The owner of the car (a guest) claimed that she was checking in now and asked us to wait discourteously.
- *** THE POINT is ***>>> The staff who worked at the time, (he was a senior, bold, wore glasses) looked at me in a bad way and claimed "you see she is checking in." uncoroperately and not being considerately.
- The staff suggested me to reverse my car against the busy main traffic road, to enter the hotel's exit which was impossible.
- We found that was not an option. So we told him that was dangerous.
- We also anticipated if there was another guest's car, that car must have waited on the main road. It would be better if the car that blocked the entrance would move.
- The staff ignored and continued the check in.
- We returned to our car and waited another 5mins until the guest who blocked the entrance successfully checking in.
This was unacceptable. The staff was unreliable, did not care with the safey, not collaborate effectively, unprofessional, not resilient.
Therefore it was "unreliable" Service.
LOCATION:
There were commercials around, supermarkets, restaurants, not so bad at all.
These comments were real and were from our real experience staying here. It happened to us, but might not happen to you.... It's up to you. Hope this review can be useful for you.
**REPLIED to Steve:
Thank you so much for your prompt reply. We really appreciate you taking time for feedback, caring customers' reviews. This was nice from you.
However, from our point of view, we would like to share.... We(or some other kind guests), we knew somehow the expectations of products; room, amenities, the price, and we agreed to it. (....FYI we didn't compare you with other hotels at all, we only claimed if it was worth of the money) But the hotel business somehow (unavoidable) comes with customer service. The customers rely on you. We are away from home... Being treated poorly from your staff, making us uncomfortable and Not Welcome. Smiles, kindness& being considerate can change a lot! There is nothing perfect(even Hilton hotels). It depends on "how" you accommodating with customers and meet the most of their needs which your staff is lack of it.
We appreciate your response. You made a Huge different. We hope your staff(the guy I mentioned) could learn from you.
Great place to stay. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Great breakfast. I just wish there wasn't a smoking area by the hot tub; I can't be around that with asthma.
Great budget motel! Stayed here for a few nights to ski Purgatory and had a good experience. The queen room was quite small, the sink drain was very slow and shower a bit dirty but no major issues. Good heat in the winter, decently comfortable bed, and overall felt safe. The hot tub was nice too. Free breakfast 6-9am with yogurts, waffles, cereal, muffins and oatmeal. For the price you can’t beat it and I’ll be back next time I’m in Durango.
This location was perfect, clean and well stocked. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious thank you Brenda, We loved all the breakfast options. I must say we travel a lot and this is the first time I slept in any hote
