Econo Lodge Hays I-70 - Hotel in Hays - 3503 Vine St, USA

One of those places that nothing was just terrible but you wouldn’t go back to. Bed wasn’t good and there was lots of outside light coming in, so much we had to put blankets around the window and under the door to get it dark enough to sleep. The shower was not bad, plenty tall and adequate pressure. The “scrambled eggs” at breakfast were pre made disks. There was sausage links and wheat toast and a pancake maker. Would get you down the road but wasn’t exactly hot. Not the worst place I’ve stayed and for late check in early check out, served its purpose but I’d try somewhere else if I’m through there again.

This Hotel is very well run. This was a late book,and we were pleasantly surprised. The room and bath were clean and the bed slept alright. The staff was responsive and good breakfast with variety. | Good value for the price. We would stay here again.

It was actually a surprisingly nice experience. The staff was really nice and professional. My room was clean, sheets were kinda awesome and the tv seemed new and worked. The shower was absolutely amazing. Great water pressure for a motel which doesn’t happen a lot. Would definitely recommend and will stay here again next time I stay in Hays.

This hotel is old and kind of run down but it was clean. The desk clerk was helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast was very underwhelming. The pancakes did not taste good at all. The sausage links were good. Even the coffee was mediocre at best.

I wanted to like this place because of all the great reviews but the reality was our stay was not pleasant. The rooms were so dirty, sticky tables and night stands, visibly unchanged sheets with hair, dirty/stained blankets. The staff was so kind and helpful, and even moved us to a new room - but unfortunately even the new room was borderline at best, with one of the beds looking like the sheets had not been changed, and the sink did not drain. When staying at a budget hotel I’m never expecting glamour or luxury, all I need is a clean room and comfortable bed- unfortunately this place did not check that box. Hopeful this will help give others some insight and that the cleaning practices will be more thorough in the future.

This place is great for the price! The front desk was super kind, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and there’s plenty of parking. You can’t really ask for much more. The breakfast was basic (prepackaged mostly) but good!

We stayed at this location a year ago and it was pretty good. After our recent visit we won't be back. The people at the front desk were great - it's the condition of the property that's disturbing. The bathroom needed a complete remodel - broken tile, dirty and a rusty kleenex cover. Really - how much does a metal kleenex box cover cost? The beds were completely worn out as well. As you can see even the snacks in the vending machine are years old (that's a Twix bar in case you can't tell). The breakfast was good so we left on somewhat of a good note. There are lots of hotels /motels in this area to choose from - we've taken this one off our list.

As a hotel cleaner myself, I always notice the little things. Unfortunately, during my recent stay at the hotel, I noticed that the sheets on my bed appeared unchanged, and clearly had been slept in with hair and crumbs underneath. Similarly, there were still some traces of hair in the bathroom all over. I understand that everyone has a bad day, and I'm sure the cleaner was doing their best, but I thought it would be helpful to bring this to the attention of the hotel management.
