Econo Lodge - Hotel in Oceanside - 1403 Mission Ave, USA

The rooms are dirty. There are big huge water bugs. Customer service is not very respectful they told us if we don't like the dirty room and the bugs we could leave. But they don't give us a refund. They say they serve breakfast. They give you a banana, a healthy bar and coffee. No juice, no milk. No nothing for the kids.

I drive 2 hours for school in San Diego on the weekends. I found this hotel with a friend it was pretty reasonable. When we got there it was late we had to check in outside. We had to give $100 cash deposit which we didn't know about and we were never told. Then we checked out at 8:00am the morning attendant said we can't get out deposit back until the maid checks the room at 9:00am and to come back in the afternoon. No I told her I have school all day and asked if she can check the room she said no. I asked for a manger and she said if I am going to have an attitude then don't come back here and that there is a sign that says check out is 11am so I should have known. Needless to say i was very upset and she eventually gave me my $100 back. That was so unprofessional I will never stay here again.

Wish I read the reviews before I booked the room! I too had problems with this location at late check In they would only take cash deposit, I’m a choice privileges member that clearly states no deposit. We were on a business trip and needed to leave at 5 am they refused to give our deposit back unless we stayed till 9am, which put us 4 hours behind on a 32 hour drive ahead of us. The man and the woman there are very rude and seem to hate their jobs, location near the beach is nice but If you want to get held hostage because you want your deposit back then this place is for you! Next door to a dive bar and casino

Positive: stayed before and room was remodeled much nicer Negative: bed was a bit hard. They make you pay a 100.00 cash deposit then you have to wait until the maid verifies room to get your deposit back.owner threatened to make us pay for a towel we used to wipe up spilled coffee if the stain didnt come out. slap in face

This hotel is horrible the owner is horrible insulting my autistic baby brother saying he's loud at night when he's not he's non verbal and charging us for nearly 160 for just sheets and to pay for this place 700 dollars nearly 900 dollars all together also they said they cleaned our room they did not they just made the beds and just did not nothing before this hotel is the worst place I have ever been at. Insulting my baby autistic brother is just wrong

SO BAD IT'S SHOCKING Poorly Maintained & In Disrepair My child & I stayed here due to unexpected home repairs. I want to ensure I state that this review is NOT about the housekeeping staff. They were actually great and I could tell they took care in trying to clean the rooms. This review is about the total lack of maintenance and repairs to the hotel which is due to negligent management and/or ownership of the location. It's an economy hotel. I wasn't expecting a resort. But what I found was shocking. The room was pin neat. No issues there. But the bathroom was leaking from the ceiling to the floor. Meaning water from an upstairs room had leaked causing the ceiling to bubble. Additionally, the floorboards in the bathroom were so waterlogged, that stepping on the floor caused water to puddle beneath our feet The baseboards were moldy. This gross lack of basic repairs were hidden by clear attempts to paint a d repaint the ceiling and baseboards. Inside the shower were black flying bugs from the standing water. The room had a mini fridge and microwave- I like that in a hotel when I'm local for short stays However, I saw a roach crawling under the microwave after I'd heated food for myself and my child. The gap under the hotel door to the outside was so big, I photographed our flip-flops shoved into the gap. You can still see space with our shoes all the way in the space. So I rigged up beach towels to keep out unwanted critters. I booked last minute through Priceline. Had my home repairs allowed for time to book a better location for our two night stay I would have looked. I chalked it up to adventure like camping outside. Because that would be my choice before staying at this location again. I don't often write scathing reviews like this. But this was just such a bad experience I needed people to be warned. My issue of ownership) management I feel is a valid one, because so much of these major issues like plumbing failures are not at a staff level. The fact that things were obviously being hidden by multiple layers of paint was really upsetting. And to add to that, deeply hidden in axwrboage on the hotel site, not where I booked through Priceline, was a demand for $100 cash deposit on the room, and ridiculous & insulting fees line $50 for missing towel. None of which could cover up the damp moldy smell, water seeping up in the floor and the vermin. I took pictures and videos of everything. All posted in the review I paid premium for this hotel due to it being a last minute stay in the summer in a beach city. I took time to write this review, because I wanted to be VERY clear about where the problem was stemming from. This location is nearly uninhabitable for humans.

Positive: The hotel feels safer than it did just one year ago. The new owners have been investing in the property over the past year, and you can notice the difference in the quality of the rooms. Negative: The exterior of the hotel - specifically walkways, stairs, and the parking lot - need to be repainted and have more trees / curb appeal. That would make the location feel safer. Beyond disappointed with this place, my room had a foul rank smell coming from the shower drain the floors were so dirty the whole time I was there I had no Wi-Fi in my room. I literally had to buy an eSIM so I could go on the Internet, so ridiculous and I was not asking for a refund for how disgusting these rooms are but then they decided to keep my hundred dollar deposit because they said the towel was dirty. When the only towel that could’ve been dirty was the floor towel because of how disgusting their floors are, do not stay here unless you want your deposit taken. I called Choice hotels they are a joke Literally didn’t do anything so yeah, I’m beyond disappointed. I really want to go inside and take pictures of the towels because I know I didn’t leave them dirty but it’s just so ridiculous. They just keep your hundred dollar deposit do not stay here. I took photos from the inside of the hotel room from the outside. It’s like I left the room totally fine so for them to take $100 for me is so beyond ridiculous not to mention the 50 spider bites I have and there’s a spider in my room disgusting
