Econo Lodge - Hotel in Cortland - 10 Church St, USA

When we checked in there were people passed out in front of the rooms. When we walked into the room the smell of black mold consumed us. We had to go to Walmart to get oxy clean and sanitation wipes. We had to buy fresh sheets, blankets, and pillows too. They also had landscapers that ruined our car. Terrible time.

Dangerous and filthy criminal hotel. Shockingly unsanitary. Trash everywhere outside and discarded drug needles in parking lot. Overwhelming smell of cigarettes and mold in every room. Slimy, stained showers, BED BUGS, broken furniture, missing smoke detectors, exposed electric wires. Smashed windows and broken glass. Homeless people, drug dealers and street workers stay here long term and hang around outside the rooms smoking cigarettes and openly doing drugs. The state health department was required to put a notice in the window of the front office that they carry Nalaxone medication due to the amount of reported drug overdoses here. The local area knows that this place is a crime ridden dump, unfortunately since I am from out of town, I didn’t. The rooms are decrepit, falling apart and beyond unsanitary. I was shocked that it was legal to rent a room in that condition. There’s more than just bed bugs here, likely scabies, pubic lice, and god knows what. The worst part is, the “management” here has absolutely zero care or pride for their property, they are immigrants and appear to dislike all the guests who stay here. No remorse or concern for very valid negative guest experiences, unapologetic and condescending. When I expressed the fact that I felt unsafe staying here as a young female, the manager dismissed me as hysterical and high maintenance, refused to refund me even though I left and didn’t stay for my 3 night reservation. Hands down the worst hotel I’ve ever experienced in my entire life, without a doubt. Please heed my warning and the other bad reviews, pay more to stay ANYWHERE else! Even sleeping in your car will be safer and cleaner.

Budget hotels usually offer you a little less for cheaper rates, but you need eyes open with this one. The hotel ignored a request on the reservation for a king room that looked like the one pictured on the website. Towels could only be exchanged one for one, and that only on request--no routine housekeeping. The website says that the room comes with continental breakfast. Nope--only on weekends. A credit card fee appeared on the final bill without advance notice, which isn't right. The hotel WIFI was spotty and dropped service, requiring moving around the room to keep a signal. On the plus side, the water in the bathroom was hot, the television huge, and the room was roomy enough. The rate was low, but it should have included the items above.

My experience at this motel/hotel was horrible and I really don’t do reviews on anything but I had to keep my community, and other people safe. I booked my hotel the night before and the morning of I got charged for two rooms and I explained it to the front desk in the next day and they did me $120 that I could not get back had to call my credit card company to is situated. If I was to show you what I had to go through to make sure that my experience was clean and safe for me and my girl. I wouldn’t recommend going to this hotel if you’re staying for not even one night because they’re bugs bed sheets never got changed pillowcases stained, the ceiling in the bathroom was falling. I see mold on the bed and if you have OCD or you’re really clean do not come to this hotel at all. You will waste your money and your time and your time up here. I rather just spend my money at holidays in and get a cleaner and safer room. The photos you’re going definitelydont wanted come here.

This hotel keeps going downhill! Even though they "updated" some of the rooms with new floors, everything is still old...the furniture, and the important things like the bathroom!!! Bathroom floor was very dirty, bathtub enamel was flaked off all over the place, and more than once, when I wanted hot water, it took literally 5 min for the water to start to get warm. The sink drain was so clogged that, the water plugged up to over half way up the sink. I guess I was lucky....no bedbugs, like some other reviewers. Also, the front window had a huge crack in it. Free continental breakfast is advertised on website, but when I got there, they told me breakfast was only on Sat.???? Don't think I'll ever stay there again. Not worth saving the money. Even this hotel was $100+ per night!!!

No idea how this place ended up being rated 3 out of 5. We originally had a reservation at another property but the reservation was cancelled due to the property no longer being affiliated with Wyndham, and this happened two weeks prior to the eclipse in a town near the path of totality, so we ended up at this place. This is a Choice property, and I am disgusted by the fact that Choice would allow this place to keep their franchising license. The only redeeming quality was that the desk clerk was personable and friendly. To start, the room had an odor of chemicals, mildew, and age. As you can see from our included photos, you could understand why we wanted to walk right out, but every single hotel room in a 50 mile radius was sold out. The was hair on the bathroom floor. When a UV light was used in the bathroom, you could see that cleaning was not a priority at this place, even though their website and signs in the rooms claim to use hospital level care when cleaning. The entire floor around the floor was contaminated by urine. The toilet bowl seat, rim, and inside of the bowl were also contaminated with urine. The tub wall showed signs of not being cleaned, as well as the sides of the tub itself. The wall near the vanity had all types of nastiness on it. The faucet on the vanity showed signs that it had not been properly cleaned in over a year. I don't even want to know what the wall next to the headboard was contaminated with when the UV light was shined at it. The curtain had holes in it. The pillows offered no support at all - my forearm provided more support. The mattress was concave, and also gave no support at all. The television went out several times. But the absolute, most disgusting detail with this room was the chair they provided - it looks like they literally went to the city dump and found it. I needed to put two towels over it just so I wouldn't have to look at it. The fact that Choice would grant this place a franchise license is mind boggling. This will make me give second thought to considering Choice over other major players in the hospitality game.

What a dump! The door was busted and hard to close. Room was dirty. The shower was cold. The staff and customers were yelling at each other. We asked for extra towels, blankets, and towels and towels. The attendant said normally they wouldn't do that but for us they would!? But they didn't. All the bathroom fixtures were broken. The walls were splattered with something, who knows what? The toilet plugged up and we had to go get the plunger and "make sure we took it back". I could go on .. Nope, I dont recommend it.

Positive: Location was perfect for me and I chose it because it was pet friendly, ALTHOUGH, I did not know there was a surcharge for the pet before I arrived. Negative: First put in a smoking room and had to go back to change. New room was stone cold (winter time here) and it took over 7 hours for it to become comfortable with the heater on high. Bathroom floor freezing and bathtub would not be anything I'd ever use. Negative: ""
