We did it!!!! Our family of four (including a 4 and 7 year old) made our way to the summit of Camelback via Echo trail. We have troopers for children and we all did our best to respect our fellow climbers on the trail. Before going up we taught the kids proper trail etiquette: watch for others, all stay to one side of the trail, and let others pass. I would NOT recommend this for the faint of heart, it is a HARD climb. We did plenty of research on taking the kiddos and had the mentality of "we will make it as far as we can". It took us 4 hours round trip, and we couldn't have done it without plenty of water and snacks. Please be careful with your kids on this trail, and be prepared to help them up and down. Know your limits!!!!
Great spot for a hike. There is free parking but it is limited and seems to fill up fairly fast. The main echo canyon trail hike is moderate to difficult but worth the effort for the views at the top. Highly recommend.
Beautiful trail. Wear sneakers and a tank top it gets hot. Stay on the trail, someone slipped and fell and died, bc they did NOT stay on the trail. Make sure you pack plenty of water, sunblock, and real hiking shoes.
Spectacular mountain, right in the city (so easy access), wonderful trail, excellent views. But do not be misled by experienced hikers telling you this is an easy hike! It is not! See the EXTREMELY DIFFICULT sign in the photo? See the HELICOPTER in the photo? It is there to do a mountain rescue the day we were there. Can almost anyone do this hike? Yup. Can it surprise you with its difficulty? Can it take much longer than you expected, if you have aging joints or balance issues? Yup. It's great, but just know what you are getting into. Our hotel concierge said it was an "easy hike." He. Was. Wrong.
Great spot to take a “hike”. Absolutely beautiful and challenging. We were led to believe this was the “easy” way up the mountain but the truth is, this trail is rated as Hard by All Trails and it was definitely hard. We took our time and made it to the top in 40 min. This is a very challenging and dangerous hike for anyone that is not flexible, mobile, and healthy. You will spend a good amount of time climbing over an up rocks as on your hands.
Definitely not an easy trail if you're not in shape. A lot of rock scrambling to get to the top, but the views are worth it. It seemed to me there's a lot of people that climb to the top just for exercise. If you want to do this trail, get here early early. I arrived at 540am and both parking areas were full already
Challenging Trail. Wouldn't at all recommend small children going beyond the easy walking parts. It gets dangerous further up. Beautiful trail.
A beautiful an amazing hike to do in Phoenix, must do it when visiting the area. It can get crowded though, so go on a weekday very early.

Great place for all the north valley residents to head out for a relaxing walk into the nature with moderate hiking. If you choose to head all the way up to the top of the mountain peak then that would serve as a good hike. Loved the 360 degree view
This is a great hike! Just south of Central and Thunderbird, the parking is at the end of the road and the trailhead goes straight up. Don't worry about it being too hard. Take it slow and easy and and just knowâeven a 5-year-old can do it. Mine di

This is a great local, to Phoenix, area to go to hike and walk. We also saw a number of mountain bikers. It is dog friendly, which was nice. The views of the western valley and Phoenix are spectacular. Located just off of Hwy 51, it is really easy to
This place is great! The food was outstanding and the waitress who is the chef's wife, was absolutely amazing! She is a sweet lady and gave us great suggestions. We waited like 5-10mins to be seated and food came quickly. I wish I can try everything
