20231211 Be sure to duck! The little pathway into the Earth Lodge has a low clearance. It is also very narrow, not for larger size individuals and those who does not like small, dark spaces.
I thought the Earth Log had some ancient cooling technology, but turns out it has a modern HVAC. Nice place to stop and cool off on your short hike from the visitor center. Low head clearance, so watch you noggin.
Loved learning about the history and how these mounds were made one bucket at a time. You can go inside the mound and see the reconstructed place. Watch the video at the visitor center to learn more about it before heading there. But the audio there also talks about it.
Great place to visit. Very informative with great historical displays. The artifacts and the information were great to look at and read. Kid friendly and great outside activities. I was really impressed with the tribal meeting house.
This National Park is an interesting look back in time. The ceremonial earth mound is amazing to think it was created a basket of soil at a time. There are 8 miles worth of trails so this is an excellent destination for a long walk while learning some history. An audio tour is available on your phone.
This was very interesting. To think that people lived here 17,000 years ago and had a very developed culture was amazing.
