We stayed at the Dykeman House for 8 days and enjoyed our stay very much. it is a beautiful historical home and we felt like it was our home away from home. Shelly and John were very hospitable. If you are looking for a very peaceful and quiet place to stay, this is the place. We will definitely stay there again should we visit Shippensburg in the future. There is a lovely pond nearby where you can feed the ducks and you can sit on the back porch and enjoy the beautiful gardens surrounding the house.

The very best B & B we have ever stayed at! The hosts were wonderful. They serve wine and cheese/fruit each evening. We arrived late the first night so in our mini fridge in our room we found chilled wine glasses, wine, and a plate of grapes and cheese and crackers!!! There was also water in there! How delightful!! They had a basket in the restroom with all those things you forget when you travel, toothpaste, shampoo, a razor,...The bedroom was large with it's own bath and very lovely in its decor! The house itself is amazing. The hosts could not have been more accomodating or nice. The breakfasts were HUGE and wonderful! Hands down the BEST EVER!!! WE went for track states but I would go back anytime just to stay here! I can't say enough good things about this place. If I could give it 10 stars out of 5 I would!!! Keep up the good work guys:)

My husband and I just returned from spending two nights at the Dykeman House B&B. I would highly recommend it. There are only three bedrooms. We stayed in the Blue Room, the largest of the three. Our king bed was very comfortable, firm and had very nice bed linens. The bathroom had a walk-in shower with a large shower head and lots of hot water. There was a mini fridge with two bottles of water. At 5 PM they put out a nice bottle of local wine, two types of cheese and crackers and some sliced apples. Breakfast both mornings was great. One morning we had a combo oatmeal and yogurt parfait with fresh sliced strawberries on top, eggs Benedict with wonderful ham, homemade banana nut bread and wonderful home fries. The second morning we had broiled grapefruit, oatmeal with fresh strawberries, scrambled eggs, link sausage and toast with homemade raspberry jelly. There are always homemade cookies and a snack basket available with various snacks such as cheese and crackers, granola bars, etc. The owners are very hospitable, making sure your needs are met, but not intrusive. Definitely recommend if you are in the area for any reason.

So beautiful and well cared for. Our hosts, Shelly and John, are just as sweet as can be. Breakfast was first class and worth waking up for... We missed wine and cheese, but found it in our room upon our return later in the evening. Peaceful and quiet and minutes from Shippensburg University, Chambersburg and even Getteysburg. This is in my hometown, but I prefer staying at their beautiful bed and breakfast. Winnie M

The Dykeman House Bed and Breakfast is located in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. It is located about 20 miles south of Carlisle, Pennsylvania. This makes it a convenient location for all the events in Carlisle. When you arrive at the Dykeman House, you feel as if your are coming to what was once a southern plantation. There is a trout house and pond near the road. A driveway winds back to this lovely home. Parking is to the rear of the home, which is beautifully landscaped, and very welcoming. Shelly, the owner greeted us at the door. She brought us into their home, giving us a tour of the home and all it has to offer. We started in the dining room where breakfast would be served the next morning. Cheese and wine were offered, as well as homemade gingersnap cookies. Yum! There is a living room right next to the dining room. Both rooms were decorated with antiques showing Shelly's wonderful style of decorating. We were then taken upstairs to our room for the night. There is one other bedroom upstairs. The rooms each have their own bathroom with shower. Our room was also decorated with antiques, but had a television for our enjoyment, as well as a small fridge. Chocolates and drinks were set out for us. Very thoughtful. Breakfast was discussed, and we went out for the evening. The king size bed is pillow top and we slept well. Their home is very quiet and comfortable. We stayed two nights. Breakfast was a pure delight! The first morning we were offered coffee, tea, orange juice, and ice water. Then were were presented warm grapefruit halves with a nutty topping. Followed were two slices of thick french toast garnished with syrupy apple slices, butter and maple syrup. Accompanying this were several large slices of bacon, and scrambled eggs. Cereal and bananas were also available if we desired them. The second morning's feast was just as wonderful. Decadent in everyway! Shelly is very hospitable and welcoming. She chatted with us quite awhile. She told us they are fairly new to running a bread and breakfast. You wouldn't know it. They seem like old pros that have perfected hospitality to a fine art. We wish the well, and will certainly come back when we are traveling to one of Carlisle's events.
