Chicken is very dry. Portions way too small for the price. More salad than meat. Rude staff. Don't even greet you or say thank you. Go to Noho's Hawaiian on Fremont. Friendly staff. Bigger portions of meat for the price!
(Updated January 17, 2023) I have been a customer since 2016. Du’s Grill used to be my favorite restaurant for teriyaki chicken. I ordered two chicken teriyaki combos. The portion sizes have gone down and prices have gone up. I understand having to raise prices due to inflation, but you cut the portion sizes in half, this is just greedy. I won’t be returning and I can no longer recommend your restaurant to friends and family.
I used to come to this place constantly when I lived in Portland. The last time I had it was probably 2018 or 2019 and it was just as good this time as I remember. Still the best teriyaki I have found. I move and travel in the states a decent amount and have a hard time finding teriyaki as good as this. I’d say earlier in the day the quality will be better than right before close just as a rule of thumb for teriyaki but even before close I’ve always had great quality
Since it’s changed hands it’s gone downhill. The people running it don’t execute the way the previous owners do. They raised the price and the service and food got worse. It’s still good but not nearly as good
It's a great place to pick up lunch! Very popular. The place is jumping during lunch time. Very crowded, so please bring your patience if you go at this time of day! Really, I think it's better for take out. Just be aware, the parking lot is tiny. The staff is great, so please be nice. Unfortunately, they were out of the spicy chicken, so we had to get regular, but it's not too bad. If they had spicy chicken, and it was the same as a year ago, I would have given 5 stars (I had a bite of someone's last year) The chicken is grilled, and this is what makes it yummy. If you are on a diet, make sure to ask for sauce and dressing on the side, otherwise you will get teriyaki (lots of sugar) on your chicken and a ton of dressing on your veggies! Spicy chicken is the best though. If I hadn't been with my co-workers, I would have tried their kimchee too. 😋
I love their food, once you have it you will want to keep coming back. Still my favorite place to get chicken teriyaki. People are obsessed with their salad dressing, and you can even buy it by the bottle. My favorite thing about this place is the food comes up SO QUICK!
I’ve been visiting this restaurant since I was old enough to chew my own food. A true Portland staple. I Got the opportunity to check in on my top 10 Portland restaurants during my trip home Portland recently. Du's Grill. I was overwhelmed with memories of highschool lunch trips to this wonderful eatery. I got to bring a friend for their first time too. She was so delighted with the portion size and the sauces. always a pleasure DU’s till we meet again. (You know I bought a teriyaki sauce and a salad dressing to go)
This is the original and only tru Dus in Portland and it's surrounding areas. This is truth as I believe it, please correct me if I am in error. Years ago there was confusion involving locations. What restaurant has the luxury to only have it's doors open for one shift Monday-Friday (11:00a.m.-8:45p.m.), and closes on the weekend? Du's does. And it's patrons are greatful for those hours. They put out a small menu that they had perfected and we all have our favorites. My go to is is grilled chicken, pork or a combo, place over a mountain of sticky rice, with a side salad. They are always nice and always BBUUSSYY! And we are happy to wait. I've never liked teriyaki bowls or things of that nature, but it only took one bite and there was no going back. Also, the portions are big enough for lunch and dinner. I'm proud to be a patron of a family owned business. I would recommend anyone and everyone to try it no matter what. Take care of each other.
I love this spot. They have one of the best cappuccinos in Portland. The staff is always kind, and friendly. And the tunes are always on point. Pro tip: ask for sugar crunchies on your capp. You wonât regret it!
