Positive: The level of cleanliness, comfort of the bed, courtesy of the staff. Negative: The rooms have nothing in them but the bunk beds and a waste basket. Not having a chair and having to put everything on the floor is very inconvenient.Management doesn't provide simple things like paper napkins, even though they serve breakfast.
My recent stay at Duo Nomad was quite disappointing for several reasons:
Hidden Charges: I was charged an extra $50 for checking in at 4 AM, which is considered a late check-in, not early. This additional fee is not clearly mentioned anywhere except on their main door, which you only see after you arrive. This lack of transparency felt very misleading.
Insufficient Facilities: For the number of guests they accommodate, they only have two showers, and during my stay, only one was functional. This caused significant inconvenience and delays.
Unexpected Costs: I booked this place because it seemed cost-effective at $75 for a few hours of sleep. However, with the hidden late check-in fee, I ended up paying $125 for just 4 hours. This unexpected charge made the stay far from economical.
Poor Breakfast: The only breakfast option available was a tasteless pancake. This was very disappointing, especially considering the overall cost of the stay.
Overall, my experience at Duo Nomad was far below expectations, and I would not recommend it to others seeking a budget-friendly and hassle-free stay.
For the traveler on the go, this is nice, neat, friendly and affordable. It is as advertised. A.Z., Lamonte, and Marcus were great. Marcus was especially great in dealing with a disrespectful and discourteous customer. They were helpful in answering my questions on where things were in the neighborhood. Overall, 12/10 stars.
Cute, comfortable hostel. Feels like sharing a large Airbnb with some strangers because it is basically a small house with shared kitchen and bathrooms.
Very friendly service.
Amazing stay at Duo Nomad. Was received by Maria on my first night at she stuck to procedure when it came to verifying my identify. Was caught off guard cause I did not have my passport with me as I was visiting from another state. But this made me feel safer.
The rooms were really nice and equipped with an AC. The beds were bunk beds and were pretty comfy to sleep in. Breakfast is provided here which was pancakes with lemonade and coffee as your beverage! Surely a delight to wake up to.
It is walking distance to many food places and the big guy who ran the dorm was really helpful and friendly in giving recommendations on places to eat and visit. Surely a cost saver and really worth the price!
Location is great which is near the train station (Eastern Market). You can also walk to the Capital Buildings by 20 minutes. The host is friendly.
Had an amazing and pleasant stay at Duo Nomad. Rooms and house were cleaned daily, showers were clean and the free pancake breakfast was a really good touch. 10/10 would stay with Duo Nomad again if I’m ever in DC.
Location was really great too, really walkable to major attractions around the area like US Capitol, National mall etc. Neighbourhood had lots of families and kids which helped make the area feel safe, although there can sometimes be a large group of homeless congregating outside the neighbourhood Trader Joes and the Metro station — but they’re generally harmless if you keep to your own.
Good stay overall with amazing hosts, beds and guests!
Kerry is very nice. He has amazing hospitality and kindness. I had a great time on my own and really felt taken care of and the hotel is so cute. There are so many amazing features in the common areas. Thank you. I will always remember this trip was great because of here.
But please also invest in curtains or wood beds so the beds are more sturdy and you have a little more privacy. I expect a little better quality of stay from such a luxurious road. The beds felt very awkward. Though I’m used to international hostels. Please consider adding curtains to each bed. Or some extra privacy. Thanks!
I love coming to barre at the DuPont studio and canât recommend it highly enough. The classes are challenging (there are multiple formats) but inclusive of people of all ages and fitness levels. When I first started barre, I didnât anticipate big
