It was my last night in Seattle, and I wanted to have a great seafood meal before leaving town! The menu here caught my eye and knew I had to try this place. I was definitely not disappointed, and it ended up being my best meal during my trip! From the jazz music blasting through the speakers, which I love, to the cute decor, it definitely set the ambiance for my meal! I ordered the half oysters, pull apart rolls, sweet potatoes, the sturgeon plate, and cheesecake. Every dish had character to it, and the flavors on each plate both eaten individually or together transcended my mouth to euphoria. The brine on the oysters was perfectly balanced, enhancing the texture of the oyster. The pull apart rolls were divine! Hot and super flaky. When eaten with the crab butter and chorizo oil, it just took that roll to a whole new level! The sweet potatoes with collards were excellent! Between the crunchy, crispy, and soft elements on the plate, the presentation on that dish was both whimsical and charming. I had the sturgeon for my main course, which was cooked to perfection. Between the sauce on the bottom, perfectly seasoned, to the fish being perfectly crispy on the outside and buttery on the inside, every element eaten with every bite just transformed that delectable plate. Every time I went back for another bite, it was better than the last! To finish off an already exceptional meal, I tried the cheesecake, which was great as well! All in all, it was a remarkable meal and will definitely return when I visit Seattle again!
My friend had expressed a desire to celebrate his birthday at a recently opened restaurant in West Seattle. To my surprise, the restaurant was very nice to accommodate a table for our party last Saturday, even though we had given less than 72 hours' notice. Upon entering, I couldn't help but appreciate the clean and refreshing ambiance of the place, which exuded a beach house vibe. The sleek bar and kitchen added a touch of sophistication. The staff members were friendly, and our food arrived promptly, leaving no room for complaints in terms of service. Out of the four of us, three thoroughly enjoyed their meals. As for me, I found the overall experience to be decent. The dishes and drinks, however, failed to impress me. Each dish seemed to possess a different, eclectic flavor profile, which didn't quite align with my taste preferences. The dishes also tended to be rich, which wasn't to my liking. Nonetheless, I did find the rockfish dish to be quite enjoyable, but the rest of the offerings fell short, earning only three stars in my book. I must admit that I found our bill of $345 to be rather pricey considering the overall experience. Considering my lukewarm experience, I don't think I would make a special trip to Alki solely to dine at this restaurant. However, if I happen to be in the area and feel like splurging, I might consider giving it another chance. It was disappointing to note that the restaurant did not offer a complimentary dessert for the birthday boy. My overall rating is 3.75 stars for this place.
This is an incredible restaurant and perfect for celebrating special occasions. Their location is right along Alki beach so you can enjoy your dinner while looking out on beautiful sunsets. We came here to celebrate a birthday and the staff made the whole experience feel very special. We grabbed the mussels and rolls for appetizers. I was especially blown away by the freshness of the mussels and would've happily taken a dozen for myself. For entrees, we tried the pork chop and rockfish. Again, the seafood was the real winner for me; it was flaky with a gorgeous crust that paired so beautifully with the eggplant baba ghanoush. You have to get a little lucky with parking around here since it's only street parking but we were able to find a spot within a block of the restaurant.
Very good new American style restaurant with the amazing view of the Alki beach. All dishes were quite good and the service attentive. I’d give 4.5 out of 5. The best dishes for us were the shellfish steamer (we drank every last bit of the broth), the beef tartar and the grilled halibut. The oysters however tasted a bit weird, and the pulled up bread was also underwhelming. The cocktails were good but not impressive. Everything is cooked from locally sourced ingredients.
We came here for our 9th Anniversary Dinner and everything we ate and drank was phenomenal. Hubs and I have never ordered a pork chop dish when we go out and decided we would try it, Holy Moly, was it ever tender and flavourful. The crust was the best part. I highly recommend ordering the pork chop dish. Congrats to Dan and Jackie, the owners of this outstanding restaurant. We will definitely be back for their rotating menu!
Went in with a reservation for dinner. Was seated immediately. Hostess was very kind and they have a coat check, which I appreciated during these last few days of subfreezing temperatures in Seattle. They have a great cocktail and wine list and a solid list of NA cocktails and beers which I appreciate because I don’t drink. Ordered the rolls to start and they were okay. A bit salty and nothing to write home about. I would order a different appetizer next time. The brussels sprouts were very good and the portion size was solid. I ordered the pork chop as an entree and again the portion size was great. Food came out on the cold side but I wasn’t too bothered. The apple side was also very good, as were the veggies. However, I am very partial to the Lady Jaye pork chop and have to say I would pick that over the one here as best option in West Seattle. The olive oil cake dessert is delightful. Overall, the service was fantastic and the food was very good. 4 stars for the price (it was over $100 for one person with one drink) and the food being a bit on the cold side. But overall, I would recommend!
Had a lovely sunset dinner tonight at Driftwood! It's such a beautifully designed space that gives you a sense of ease while you take in the view. Service was excellent, and I loved how most of the staff support every table and we had the opportunity to talk and interact with them! With the menu changing often (with everything being fresh and locally sourced!), we savored every bite of our appetizers and mains. Definitely save room for dessert, too. 10/10 would recommend.
I am so glad this place opened! Friendly, knowledgeable staff, creative cocktails and yummy food. The menu is relatively small, but I prefer a place that does a small number of things very well to one with a huge menu where it can be difficult to execute everything successfully. I don’t normally like dinner rolls but these were exceptional. Soft and pillowy and great with the seasonally flavored butter. The fish was cooked perfectly - succulent meat and crispy skin. The steak was fall off the bone tender and delicious, though pretty pricy. My one gripe is that the lighting was a little too bright for my taste, but maybe they are going for the Beachy vibe which will make more sense in summer. I definitely recommend this place and hope they are successful and stick around for a long time!
The hype and recognition really is worth it! First, the entrance is lovely. You are welcomed by a toasty fireplace (fall/winter) before being greeted by a host! Someone happily brings you to your table. The view is outstanding, depending on where you
Itâs hard to say whatâs the best here: the food, the service, or how effing beautiful this space is! I went twice and had the oatmeal, avocado toast and bacon, tea, green juice, and a mimosa. Both of my servers were helpful and accommodating. The
