Downtown Dempsey's - Restaurant in Adrian - 136 E Maumee St, USA

This is a fantastic place to get pizza in Adrian Michigan. We ordered the classic. It was very busy for a Friday night. The staff was wonderful. We ate in and were updated as to when the pizza would arrive. It was fresh from the oven . The toppings were excellent. Cooked to perfection. The cheese is not just mozzarella. It’s a cheese blend like I have not had on a pizza. The sauce was home made too. We also tried their cake balls. We got peanut butter chocolate. WOW!!! You will not be disappointed by the pizza, cake balls, or the service. Excellent.

Such a cute little place. Love the Strawberry Salad and every sub I've had so far has been so good; crunchy/soft bun, flavorful, and unique. Best enjoyed right in the front window by the little greenery wall! Love that you can see the kitchen too. Kind of fun to watch your food being made!

I ordered online and the pick up time was 1245. I arrived around 1230 and no one else was in there and the staff was kind of rude. She stated “ it’s a 1245 pickup time. So it’s not ready.” And I said that’s fine I was just here early and came inside. But then it seemed the 3 ladies working just talked instead of starting my order. Another customer came in and ordered and got her food within 10 minutes. I literally didn’t get my food until a few minutes after 1245, which is fine but I’ve worked costumer service for years and we always tried to hustle when someone arrived early for their order. Food was great though

The salads are soooooo good here! Not just iceberg lettuce and few toppings like other restaurants. It’s spinach and spring mix with lots of goodies to make your salad yummy and healthy!

Nine bucks for soup and half a sub is an absolute bargain! Especially when both the soup and sub pack punch like what Downtown Dempsey's is serving up. I ordered the Bacon and the Bird sub, with a cup of chili. The bread had an incredible crunch to it, and all of the vegetables tasted fresh. The chili was the perfect accompaniment to the sub on a rainy afternoon in downtown Adrian. If you haven't already, stop in and grab a sandwich! And be sure to grab some Cake Balls on your way out. I really hate to give only 3 stars as I had high hopes for this restaurant. There was much anticipation for the opening. I realize this is only the second week of opening and I will adjust my review when I've tried more items on the menu. I however will not order the taco pizza again though. I've had taco pizza from every pizza place in Lenawee County so I was looking forward to trying the raving Demspey's version. I knew immediately upon picking up the box that it felt far too light for a $17 pizza. I was correct in finding that there were not a ton of toppings. In fact, it barely had any cheese. Who puts pizza sauce on a TACO pizza? The crust tasted much like that of a frozen dough. Bland and chewy. When I placed my phone order they asked if I wanted everything with my pizza. With that I replied, "yes"; expecting taco sauce or salsa and sour cream, yet nothing else was included in my box. Lastly, I suggest a separate register for take out orders. I called ahead to save time with waiting in line. Yet, I had to wait for the 6 people in line to make their lunch selections and pay for their orders while I watched my pizza sit atop the cooler getting cold. 2nd visit: As promised, I did return. I ordered the Torpedo sub. Pics posted below for your viewing pleasure. The good: several layers of meat and cheese, soft sesame bun, Italian sauce, lettuce and tomato. It was delicious and very flavorful. I would order again. The bad: The original Dempsey's Torpedo sub had banana peppers, you must pay extra for banana peppers. At 12.99 plus tax I'd think they aren't going to go broke throwing some banana peppers on. Again, 12.99 and the sub was only about 8 inches. The portion was large enough for me, but this is half a serving for a man. As I said previously I would order again, but this will not be a frequent lunch place for me because of the prices.

An absolute GEM!! If you want excellent quality food paired with incredible service that won’t hurt your wallet, look no further!!! Best pizza in Michigan! Not feeling pizza? No worries, sandwiches are just as amazing! Stop by for some great food and drinks (yes they have alcohol!)!

Super friendly and helpful staff with plenary of fabulous gluten free options! I had the cheese bread with a miss Izzy on gluten free bread, I’ll so be coming back to try the pizza!
