OPENING of our BRAND NEW Castle Rock Library Today after 18 months of construction!!
It's a behemoth beauty that will meet the needs of our growing community! Many study spaces, personal stations, offices, conference rooms for rental with reservation, more books, more media, more service stations and an expansive and beautiful view of the Sante Fe Butte. There's an electronics rental and business section, large area and playground for young kids, and a fair amount of books for grownups. There's also a local history and archive room that will have historic records in the vault, and you can have access to them with the help of a librarian.
This is a wonderful modern library!!
Very soon, there will also be enough parking with a new parking lot!
Such an inviting place to come check out book or study. The young children's library has a play area that was really great for the kids. There was an area right off that where parents could sit and keep a close eye on the kids also. Plenty of siting nooks everywhere and study stalls or rooms available.
I went to a group meetup here and had a look around. Looks pretty nice! Reminds me of another library I’ve been to and liked. Nice number of meeting rooms and appealing multi level look. And super helpful staff members! Could be more parking though.
Great collection of books for all ages. Our little one loved the indoor play area. Staffs were really friendly and helpful. Conference rooms were really well maintained. These conference rooms are a great place for hosting birthday parties. Overall it is a great place for learning and having a little fun.
VERY LOUD. Children running around the screaming all day and even the staff (especially this one woman upstairs) are very loud when they talk. Whispering is not a thing at this library. For peace and quiet you'll need to reserve a study room so you can shut a door. Beautiful place but the loudest library I've ever been to.
It is beautiful but loud. They needed to put in carpet or rugs to help absorb the sound. It’s definitely not quiet upstairs bc of all the noises coming from downstairs. Maybe walls for the kids area. Libraries are supposed to be quiet and a nice retreat. I won’t be spending much time here.
The new library is beautiful. They have a lovely area for little kiddos to play, of course LOADS of books, movies, plenty of computers and all the amenities one would expect out of their local library.. but there's a massive issue that the library staff has ignored up to this point and it needs to be addressed immediately.
This isn't even my photo, I heard some random ladies chatting about a creepy guy stalking women in the library and had to butt in because I had the exact same experience. And what would you know, we were talking about the same guy.
The man in this photo followed me around the entire library for more than 10 minutes. I went upstairs and downstairs, outside to get my wallet and then back in, and every corner, he was there. He'd make eye contact and immediately look away as if I hadn't noticed him over and over and over again. When I asked for help printing, I mentioned him to the staff and the woman I spoke with expressed he had been there all day. I was confused.. I expressed there was no way I was the first to complain. She confirmed they've been getting complaints all day, but he's in there all the time and has been "harmless so far" was her choice of wording. This is NOT ok. I did what the library staff should have done and called the police. I was able to confirm this man has already been trespassed from other businesses in Castle Rock and has confirmed mental impairments.
This post isn't intended to mock the unhomed or those with mental impairments.. but it makes absolutely zero sense to me that the library staff is ok with multiple people feeling uncomfortable and unsafe in their new location...
I refuse to walk back into this library until I know something is being done. Staff, it's super simple. Next time he comes in, call the police and have him trespassed. There's nothing else to it. Point the police in my direction if needed as I'll gladly share my experience and complaint as well as I can get them in contact with at least two other women with similar experiences and concerns from different days and times at the same library.
Do something about it or I'll continue to encourage locals to trek to Lone Tree's library if they want to feel heard and safe.
I have been going to the new library for some time now, but I have had enough with the children in the first floor screaming on the top of the lungs like there's no tomorrow. I had some problems with the library, but this problem has been continuing for a long time and I have had enough with them screaming where everyone can hear and is disturbed by it for the past 60 days and ever since the library was open. I have told one of the staff members that they needed to tell the parents to quite their kids or redirect them to a park. But all they said was that they couldn't parent other people's kids and that the policies were going to stay as they were. I was starting to think Castle Rock is becoming a huge clown show instead of a respectable location in Douglas County, said to be the third richest county in the nation. Is this how you govern your own community? 🤡???
