DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Winston Salem - University - Hotel in Winston-Salem - 5790 University Pkwy, USA

Great 3-night stay here, with warm hospitality and great service! I especially appreciated Larry (Manager), Ashley (Bartender) and John (Breakfast Manager). All friendly, thoughtful, helpful, and professional. Nice, clean facilities, clean room and linens, everything supplied. The air conditioning unit had an issue where it would make a loud noise when the compressor shut off. I placed a maintenance request, and it was fixed the same day :) The only thing that could be improved was that the electrical outlets next to the bed and on the desk were too loose to hold plugs. I will be staying here again, and actually moved another reservation to this hotel. I look forward to enjoying the pool and fire pit next time!

Wonderful experience for myself and my 8 year old son! Everyone was extremely friendly and made our stay a 10 out of 10! From the pool to our room and everything in between it was clean and everyone wore a big, welcoming smile. And don't forget the cookies!

This hotel used to be clean and well maintained. Most recent stay showed worn, dirty carpets. Room amenities not stocked. Tv not working. At least the bed linens and towels were clean but Disappointed overall. They could use better maintenance

A very nice and clean hotel. It also was a surprisingly good wildlife and birdwatching viewpoint. I saw geese, chipmunks, and mockingbirds from the outside. Overall a nice place to stay especially if you like seeing the local birds and other wildlife.

Never again, very disappointed at this hotel. Bathroom sink clogged up, elevator was broke the whole weekend and had me on the 5th floor. This was a family reunion and they had my older cousins on the higher floors. I was not told the elevator wasn't working when I got there, but it makes sense why the front desk lady was so adamant to have the young boys help me. Get to my room and check my bed and there was a bug on the bed. I told the front desk I need my sheets change and housekeeping just put the sheets on the table instead of just changing the sheets. Breakfast was overcharge with 5 items. Again beware!

It seems others have had different experiences than I have, but I wanted to share my own. The staff I spoke with on check-in were quite cordial, incredibly professional. The room I had was clean and spacious, one of the best I've had in a long time. And all for a price I found rather competitive. While I recognize others have not had this experience, my first-time experience has led me to see the Double Tree as my current golden standard for hotels to go to. I hope that if you visit here, your experience is as good as mine. Thank you for your service, Double Tree.

Overall, the hotel is decent. We ended up paying over $300/night, I'm assuming due to Wake Forest graduation that weekend. |For that price, it was not a great deal. Our bathroom door would not stay open - annoying. Had to push a towel under it. The TV would not work - apparently they installed new "smart" boxes and they are now unreliable. The manager came up and had to put his hand under the tv to get it to start (heat sensing device). There were no instructions. There were no glasses in the room - he had to bring some up. |The thermostat on the wall didn't work, but the one on the heater did.|The chair in the room was extremely uncomfortable. Looked nice, but terrible to sit in.|The downstairs lobby smelled of heavy perfume - every day.|The first morning breakfast was pretty good (Saturday morning). Then, Sunday appeared to have the leftovers. Monday was even worse - practically no yoghurt, limited fruit, hardly any pastries. They did have eggs/bacon/potatoes/hot oatmeal.|The pluses - work out room had a nice mix of treadmills/eliptical/etc plus weights. The room was clean. The fridge worked (although no freezer for our ice pack). Bed was ok. Didn't use the pillows. |Room 431 - nice view. Some street noise.

First time I stayed they completely ignored the hotel messaging system. Not sure why it’s even offered in the app if they don’t even look at it. Was there for 4 nights and they never once offered to clean my room. Second stay more recently the ignored my status and weren’t going to offer me a member benefit. When asked for it to be in my room I got serious push back. When they finally agreed to do it and promised it would happen, they still didn’t do it. Horrible follow through on customer service. And for an expensive suite, the main door didn’t even lock properly and handle was loose. And the water faucet was wiggling and loose. Plus the TV remote hardly responded and didn’t work well. I stay in hotels weekly and this is the last time I will stay at this doubletree.
