DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Newark Ohio - Hotel in Newark - 50 N 2nd St, USA

The property continues to be a very solid four stars. All aspects of my stay from check-in, to accommodations, to interactions with staff were excellent. The only negative is the rooms on technology still are behind with plugins. However my king suite was top notch. Our group utilized the banquet facilities again this year and they continue to be great! Hopefully our group will book the same room block for next year. The hotel and town make this a special stay.

We stayed here when we attended an excellent Lyle Lovett/Leo Kottke concert at the Midland Theater. You cannot stay closer to the Midland! It was right out our window. The staff were very pleasant and patient (we never take the first room. It’s usually near air handlers, faces a noisy highway, etc). They gave us 525. Bingo. Right next to a rooftop of air handlers. They gave us 524. Perfect! Facing downtown instead. Sure you get some local hill-jack loudly racing their pickup truck down main street but that dies off pretty early.|||| The microwave is in a very odd position that you need to open cabinet doors and bend over to use. The little fridge in the kitchenette was surprisingly powerful! Usually they barely cool drinks. This one froze our thermos overnight! Beers were decidedly cold! We didn’t even notice until we were moving out that there’s an even bigger fridge in the bedroom cabinets. And it didn’t even make an annoying buzzing. The pillows are comfy. The bed is nice and firm. Great on my back. It took a while to figure out how to turn off the constantly running a/c fan that’s right next to the bed. Once done we didn’t hear another noise from anything in the hotel.|||| The shower deserves a few words….. My first impression was “this is a bad design”. You have to stand where the cold water hits you while you try to find the happy temperature mark. That sucks. Once you hit it though the water pressure is good. The shower head is high enough (I’m 6’ and usually have to crouch under shower heads) and they have the wonderful foot step about a foot off the ground so you can easily wash your legs! I’d give it an 8.|||| Nice looking pool and exercise areas. ||||We would definitely stay again!

We spent 3 nights in King Suite 501. Overall, the room was quiet, very spacious, well appointed, and clean. The beds were of moderate comfort. Every interaction we had with the staff was very positive and friendly. The location is very convenient to the downtown area and easy walking to many great restaurants and attractions. I wouldn't recommend the breakfast though in the onsite restaurant. It was of mediocre quality with very limited offerings and overpriced. We had a much better breakfast for half the price a block away at Daisy's. It was nice to have an actual full Starbucks in the hotel though too. If ever back in the Newark area, I would definitely stay here again.

Bed bugs... We had two regular rooms on the second floor back to back. These rooms were clearly dated. The rooms are dark and dank, the tub shower has some weird liner in it. The beds were horribly uncomfortable but that did not matter. After being in the room for under 30 minutes bed bugs came out. We were instantly done with this hotel at that point. Front desk sent us to a sister hotel at no cost to us. We were skeptical but tired. New hotel was way nicer!

The absolute best part of the hotel was the serviced delivered by staff member Britney. She went above and beyond in being knowledgeable on local events, dining, store, etc. to accommodating our large group with any needs, quick to recognize your name day after day and always with a smile that warms a room. Such a role model for Hilton. Bravo.

Wow! What a great area to explore downtown Newark! When we arrived we were greeted by Brittany who is amazing and very friendly! She told us some about the area and was very courteous. Talk about hospitality, she has it down to a science! I hope everyone gets greeted by Brittany when they walk in the door. She was the only front waking person and had a line and still gave great customer service to everyone! I’d like to add that Sarah in house keeping was very friendly and made our stay awesome!

The front desk agent Brittany was incredibly friendly and helpful when we were checking in. The room was a little dated, but still nice. We were in town for a concert at the 31 west ballroom, and the hotel was within easy walking distance.

First and foremost. The staff is OUTSTANDING. Great care and concern for the people who stay there are more then welcome, treating you as family NOT a customer. The rooms are clean and well maintained the restaurants surrounding this hotel are within walking distance. I LOVED it so much I will be back on the 19th Of Oct for my 2nd trip
