DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New Bern Riverfront - Featured Reviews (1076)
This was my first stay at the Doubletree. In fact, my first trip to New Bern. I'm very happy I stayed there. The staff was very friendly and helpful, no matter how often I went to the front desk with questions. In particular, Elias Hernandez made going to the front desk something to look forward to. Beyond being helpful, his outgoing personality was infectious. You just couldn't leave without being in a better mood. The rooms are spacious with large TV with multiple HBO's, a microwave, mini fridge, safe and coffee maker. The housekeeping staff were the friendliest I've ever encountered anywhere. Outside the hotel has a huge deck overlooking the marina with lots of chairs to sit back and enjoy the sunsets with. I look forward to going back to New Bern and if I do, I wouldn't hesitate staying at the Doubletree. Great place!
Service was top notch and the location is great. Staff is excellent, attentive and friendly. Hotel rooms are clean and nice, but the interior of the hotel rooms are a little dated and could use some repair. Our room had lights that did both works snd curtains that need replacing. The lobby is nice and updated, but the hallways and room probably could use a refresher.
The thing that made this visit so special was the team at the front desk! They truly made me feel like I was home away from home. They were accommodating, kind, professional & did everything to make sure I was comfortable. Beautiful property!
This is a very nice hotel. I've stayed in it many times. It used to be grand when it was new, but it's still very nice and the view is beautiful. It's in my hometown, and it's one place we really like to stay when we visit there. We're Diamond members and got an upgrade when we went. The staff is great. Special thanks to Shelly for making our stay more memorable!
My wife and I stayed at the Double Tree on the 4th of July, specifically to see the fireworks. We had a BLAST. Everything was just perfect, from check in to check out the next morning. We sat on the deck overlooking the marina starting around 4:00 or so, under a wonderful shading tree. After a glass of wine, we decided that we were going to have dinner right there (outside) as the weather as perfect. The food was great, the fireworks fantastic, but the most important part, the service was incredible. Both Mandy and Terrianne were rock stars. Pleasant, professional, courteous, and all around wonderful. We cannot thank them enough for enhancing a great experience and making it both memorable and wonderful. Thank you all for a wonderful evening.
My room was reserved at the beginning of the year. Three months ago I called to make sure my room was a handicap accessible, two queen room (to accommodate my 96 year old father). I was assured that I did in fact have this type of room. When I got there after my several hour drive to check in the gal at the desk informed me that I have a King handicap room and a separate two-queen room! WHAT?! For one, I need two beds yes, not three, (especially at $300 a night!) but I needed the proper bathroom. She had no solution for me except - deal with the king room - I guess she thought I would sleep in the chair or on the floor?! I told her I called MONTHS ago to make sure this did NOT happen! UGH I asked if there were other hotels in the area - oh you can try but they are all booked for a fishing tournament. Nice response huh?! Beyond annoyed at this point - I confirmed with Dad that he would be able to manage one night in a regular bathroom - he agreed - so that is what we did. HOWEVER, when entering the room - he needed to use the bathroom and could NOT even manage to get the walker in and out, plus the toilet was basically on the floor. Needless to say, that was fun getting him up and out of there! Thankfully we didn't plan for a shower the next morning. The beds were way too soft, the walls are paper thin, very noisy neighbor (could hear his TV and music word for word), and noisy patio patrons (even from top floor!). So we did not sleep at all. Breakfast was cold and overpriced. The only positive is that most of the staff were nice and the hotel has lovely views. When checking out, the front desk asked me how my stay was, I simply said: I will never come back to this hotel!
I asked for my receipt to be emailed - never got that. He also mentioned he would help me with points - crickets....
I’ve stayed here a few times, and it’s always been fantastic. The beds are so soft, and my king room was very spacious. The desk was bigger than others I’ve used in hotels, and the TV was large. I spent a week there for work and the room was wonderful to come back to each evening. The River view was beautiful, even on the 2nd floor.
Katie at the front desk was outstanding at checkin and the ensuing nights. I’ve stayed here several times and never had someone as engaging as Katie! Real enjoyable and outgoing personality. This hotel is a nice place to stay. Easy walk to everywhere in town.
