DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cleveland - Independence - Hotel in Independence - 6200 Quarry Ln, USA

I'm pretty shocked this is listed as a 4-star hotel by Google. Our room smelled like old shoes, I found multiple past guests' hairs in our "clean" towels, and the bathroom had no fan or decent lighting. All staff we met were very nice, but purely on room cleanliness I wouldn't stay again.

Hi, I stayed at this hotel during a recent work trip, and this was a perfect hotel for my stay. The hotel lobby is clean and inviting and the rooms are clean and stocked up. It has a indoor/outdoor pool w/ a hot tub and a gym. The location is minutes away from Cleveland's attractions and has a nice bar/restaurants within it as well. Also, there are great restaurants/bars within walking distance as well. The staff here make this place even better and are friendly and very accommodating. Definitely would stay at this hotel again.

TL;DR: The hotel is in a great location but the actual hotel property seems to be on a downward trend, aesthetically. Service: Check-in was relatively easy. That said, there was no prior notice that there would be a $100 incidental charge upon arrival. For some, this might break a vacation budget considering refund could take 3-5 business days to be returned to the account. As a Silver member, I noted in the app that I should have received a bottle of water on check-in (or at some point during the stay) and we did not. Room: For some reason, we received a room with accommodations which, oddly enough, was not anywhere close to the check-in desk. There wasn't a lamp on both side tables, which was moderately inconvenient. The room wasn't at all well-ventilated and the toilet and facial tissue were uncomfortably damp from the previous occupant's shower time. While taking a shower, the water took a long time to warm; the mirror completely fogged over and took a long time to clear (which explains the damp TP and tissue, which was completely soaked by the time I was done with my shower); and there was a dead cockroach in the shower. There were actual glasses with covers to drink from instead of single-use cups. I'm not sure that I've seen this in a post-COVID world and especially considering the roach on the shower floor. Overall, the hotel was reasonable for a one-night stay but if I was in town for more than one night, it would only be a last-resort option given the number of nearby hotels that are just as accessible to Downtown Cleveland.

Looking for a hotel just outside of Cleveland, but a short drive to the Cleveland Museum of Art, we settled on the DoubleTree by Hilton Cleveland - Independence. We had booked a room with a king bed, but when we checked in were told the room we selected was not available. The front desk did not identify what type of room we had been given, so we were not aware until we got to the room. We were put in a room with two double beds; not what we booked or desired, but since we were only there for one night, we unloaded and made the best of it. ||The restaurant staff were very helpful and we enjoyed our food. I asked for a "deconstructed" sandwich and after explaining what I meant, the food, when it arrived, was prepared as I requested and was very tasty. ||The one drawback to this hotel as opposed to other Hilton brands we have used in the past was the rather high-priced (to us) breakfast buffet. Being on a fixed income, we prefer lodging that have breakfast included in the room rate. ||Regarding location, the hotel was just off the interstate and only 10 miles from the Cleveland Museum of Art.

It didn't appear this hotel was ready for the recent convention. During check-in, I was provided with three different rooms. The first two I was provided were not cleaned by housekeeping as there was old food in the refrigerator, sheets on the floor, and trash outside the room door. It looked as if they were starting to clean the room and never finished. This happened twice. There was a line of people with similar complaints. The lady at the front desk tried to be extremely accommodating and thanked everyone for their patience but the hotel was in complete disorder. After coming down the second time to explain the same situation with the room not being ready and still dirty, she apologized and advised she would credit my honors account with 40,000 points. I still haven't seen those points added to my account. One poor customer was literally sleeping outside his room because his deadbolt lock wouldn't work and his key and digital key was not working. His room was right by the elevator and he was there when we left and came back 3 hours later. I had my son and my nephew, both young teenagers, and when I booked there was nothing mentioned about the pool or hot tub being closed, yet both were. For a Hilton property, and a member of Hilton Honors for over 10 years, this was this was an extremely disappointing experience.

The location was great, very close to downtown Cleveland. However, the rest of our stay was not nice. The TV didn’t work in our room. We called the front desk, and were told someone was coming up. No one ever showed. When we called back, the phone just rang and was never answered. The shower water would just randomly turn very hot. There were no knobs on the AC in the room, so we couldn’t control it at all. The room was either very hot or very cold. The curtains wouldn’t close all the way, and our room faces the sunrise, so we got hit with that every morning. Doors we very hard to close. If you’re not paying close attention, it won’t latch. Only one elevator worked, and that sounded like it was on its last leg, and felt very unsafe to be on. The ice machine didn’t work. And, both the pool and hot tub were closed for over half of July. When I booked nothing about that was mentioned, and I got this hotel for the pool and hot tub. Over all we were just very disappointed.

The restaurant is the saving grace for this hotel. My family and I enjoyed an excellent dinner in the hotel's restaurant and they had a very good breakfast buffet with an omelet station at an extra cost when booking the room, or you can pay for your food choices. I suggest paying a little more when you book your room, because the prices are outrageous. The server Darrien was attentive, personable, and an absolute delight. Dennis at the front desk was helpful and friendly. The rooms are badly in need of repair, remodeling and more thorough cleaning. We would definitely eat there again, but would only stay there if nothing else was available in the area. The beef short ribs are excellent.

The hotel room was clean. This was our first stop to rest and sleep before getting on the road for another 6 hours. My kids really enjoyed the pool which was an indoor/outdoor pool connected which they loved.
