Stayed here a while back and had a great stay. My friends and I booked the attic room hoping for a paranormal experience. We were not disappointed. Twice during our stay we heard a "knock, knock" on the slanted ceiling at the top of the stairs on the top floor, directly above my head in both cases. When recording audio and asking questions on that room, at one point the audio playback recorded static sound for a minute or so, never at any other time. Downstairs in the living area, we used an EMF detector, and it seemingly responded to questions when set on a small table next to chairs. When we first arrived late at night, while removing belongings from the vehicle I heard a moan or someone making a crying sound from inside the vehicle. It sounded like a smartphone call on "speaker" mode, best way to describe it. The breakfast was very good. I plan to stay there again on a future trip.
The two stars are for location and meeting with other interesting guests. We did enjoy wine ( our purchase) on the patio in late afternoon and the views were amazing. However, the bathroom in our room was a joke. The sink was actually in the room and had no counter space....just a small sink on the wall. The shower was so small I doubt I could have lifted my arms to wash my hair. In the room itself there was no place to unpack or hang clothing. Cleanliness was not their priority. Breakfast was skimpy and only changed every other day. The fruit offering was a strawberry and a half...three slices. I do not like leaving a negative review, but I must leave this one to warn anyone who wants to fully enjoy the Gettsyburg experience. Everything else about the park and visitors center gets 5 stars.
The Doubleday is the only B&B on the Gettysburg Battlefield, and that makes a difference. It is quiet, comfortable, with propriaters who are knowledgable and have family ties to the battlefield. Itis a peaceful and wonderful place to stay. I am a frequent, and long term guest. I have no reservations recomending it to anyone, and have done so frequently.
The website is deceiving. The current owners do not provide the experience indicated on their site. Our room was in dire need of dusting and the it had not been vacuumed, as indicated by the pill (from previous guest) I found in the floor. Breakfasts were pretty bad. Eggs and bacon that were overdone. One day we each had half of an English muffin, buttered, with no jam. No selection of juices. The hot water dispenser was broke so no tea possible at night. When we arrived we were told no food or drinks in rooms - like we're 10 year olds? Very disappointing.
The room was very neat and clean, with a great view of the Gettysburg Campus. Breakfast was bacon and eggs, juice and coffee. The Battle field is directly across the street.
Do not book with them they double book our 10 anniversary reservation and when i call they tried to tell me that i have the wrong dates and obviously i know when my anniversary is... then when my wife call him back he started yelling at her then. And now they wont answer my phone calls to get my money back... we where thinking about renting this whole place for next year to renew our voles... they just lost a big booking...
Fantastic getaway for my husband and I. Right on the battlefield, too! Our trip was excellent. The only issue we had was the bed. My back hated it, and it squeaked when you rolled over, lol.
My husband and I had a terrific stay. Great place absolutely beautiful very clean room. And breakfast was delicious Greg you are an amazing innkeeper. Thank you so much for an amazing stay.

This was a magnificent monument with a great view of the battlefield. You must walk up the spiral steps and check out the metal work along the way. Once youâre out on the balcony area, the view is spectacular. Highly recommended to spend a few minu
This is the best ice cream! A friend told us to be sure and stop here when we traveled to Gettysburg. I'm so glad we did. We had fresh peach in a waffle cone. It was the best fresh peach we've ever had, and the waffle cone was so fresh. Yum!!
An obvious must see site on your Gettysburg visit. The house is beautiful and when you step inside, you can just feel the history. Very cool to think about Robert E Lee planning his war strategy here. And how he mustâve spent his time during this e
We heard the bridge was haunted, just wanted to go check it out. It's actually a beautiful area and quite relaxing. No weird vibes for us, even though some folks were doing a paranormal investigation. We sat and watched their work, but really just en
